Yeah that’s what I meant, show spoilers are all good as long as they’re not leaks

They had just explained earlier that 80s music meant red alert too. Right?

Confirmed by another poster but Joel says 80s songs being played "means trouble."

-According to the smuggling code he and “Bill and Frank” used, a song from the 1960s meant that there was “Nothing in”, and a song from the 1970s meant that there was “New stock”. A song from the 1980s simply had a red “x” beside it. Ellie later tricked Joel into revealing that an ’80s song meant “trouble”.-

The song played at the end was "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode which came out in 1987.

The creator and director talked about this on the podcast specifically. Such an amazing scene and compare it to the way sarah looked when Joel killed the next door neighbor how it was the polar opposite

That scene really stuck with me. While it was happening I was thinking "was she back there loving it?" Then after the credits the show runner said that she was. Just the subtleness of it and especially the cinematography. I mean it was just a well shot scene with the lightening flashing and it showing for just a second her eyes looking intently.

I know it's only one episode but that episode has to tell you it has a good shot at being better than 99% of other video game shows/movies. If it's half as good as Chernobyl, it'll be in the running for best show of the year.

Edit: Read multiple reviews on ep.1 one, and one guy was saying episodes 3 and 4 will be a big tell on how good it will be. I guess that's about the point where the story really starts getting good.

In the previous scene when they took her from the Fireflies, Marlene says something to Joel like "I know what youre capable of" and Elie looks up and asks, "What are they capable of?"

Fast forward to when he started pummeling the guard, Ellie was absolutely loving it and she realized Joel is a beast. But as he kept pummeling the guy, the camera went back to Ellie and she had a "WTF, thats a bit excessive" expression on her face. It is like she also realized in that moment that Joel might be a little unhinged.

Just want to add that I loved the opening scene with the two scientists. That was a brilliant scene, and a great way to start the show.

I took it a little bit different. I thought it was once she saw him really pummeling him is when she started loving it. It was like she was seeing that she was probably going to be ok with him as a protector if he was willing to do that. Seems like the show runner after the credits kind of confirmed that. Maybe not though, I started rewatching it last night but fell asleep because I started it so late.

I'm a sucker for John Hannah and Thor Gundersen. Two of my favorites.

Wow, house of dragon was a beast

quote:

And now #HBO themselves released their official viewership for #TheLastOfUs HBO

Yeah, #TheLastOfUs??which debuted on #HBOMax & #HBO, had 2nd biggest Premiere of all time for an HBO show with 4.7M viewers ON SUN NIGHT ALONE just in the US, only under #HouseOfTheDragon’s 10M.
1/2

quote:

Again those 4.7M viewers watching #TheLastOfUsHBO on SUN night are just in the US, mind you. #HBO doesn’t release global stats.

#TheLastOfUs doubled #Euphoria’s SUN night debut.

#HBOMax subscriptions’ll surely get a new boost despite recent price-hiking.

It’s good writing/filmmaking.

The scene is nothing more than an information dump, to set the table for the story for anyone who hasn’t watched or doesn’t remember that particular episode of Planet Earth, but it’s done in a creative, effective, and realistic way.

I like it and most tv pisses me off in some way or another lately. Was eerie how they got the feel of the game and environment. Here's hoping for more great sets.

Never played the game but loved every minute and was sucked right in by episode 1. Nobody can do produce quality serialized stories with high production value quite like HBO. Really makes me wish HBO had got either the Witcher or Halo.
