‘The Last Of Us’ Episode 3 Preview: A Television Masterpiece

quote:

I’ve been loving The Last Of Us on HBO so far, but the episode that really sealed the deal for me is airing this Sunday. Episode 3 deals with a couple characters we’ve only heard about in passing so far: Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) who get a massively expanded role in the show vs the video game it was adapted from

I don’t want to say too much here for fear or spoilers, but I will note also that this will be a controversial episode. I’m really curious to see what kind of reaction it gets and to discuss it

quote:

What reviewers have said on #TheLastOfUsHBO??? Episode 3 titled “Long Long Time”

- Episode 3 is one of the best hours of television in recent memory.
- Episode 3 of THE LAST OF US just broke me. This is a very good show.
- Just wait for episode 3 of The Last Of Us. JUST WAIT.

The Last of Us HBO Episode 3 Information:
- Will be 80 Minutes
- Directed by Peter Hoar
- Titled "Long Long Time"
- Will showcase the origin story of Bill and Frank
- First Appearance of Ellie's Red Shirt

Let's hope it lives up to this hype

Meaning gay romance?

I don't give a shite as long as there’s no explicit butt stuff.

Agreed.

I’m as over the constant political bickering as anyone. But I will admit that the universal critical acclaim for this episode, remarks that it might be controversial, and knowledge of the Bill/Frank piece have me a bit concerned that this will be where the dividing lines get drawn.

I'm excited to see what Murray Bartlett does with Frank. He was so awesome in the white lotus

My guess is we’ll get majority flashbacks of Bill and Frank with Joel and Ellie on the road to their town. Ending will probably be something like Joel and Ellie finding one or both of them dead which forces Joel and Ellie to go find Tommy

If E3 isn't better than the first two, this will probably be the end of the road for me. It's a chore to watch this show. Never played the game, but so much of the show is entirely predictable. I love dystopian stuff normally.

This is the episode I was most concerned about this season. Hopefully it's done well.

Well yes it is totally predictable because we already know the general story because of the game

This is the make or break episode for me. 1 and 2 were both great. IF this episode adds to Bill and Frank im confident itll be an amazing show. If its a gay bukkake woke fest then the show is fricked.

Had no idea this episode was going to have a gay romance in it. We'll see how far I get into it.

They hinted at them being gay in the game

They did a bit more than hint at it especially with Ellie stealing Bill’s magazine. Anyone who’s surprised at this didn’t actually play the game

I didn't play the game, but hinting at it is about all that should be done.

Yeah. I’ve been watching it with kids and would like to avoid that.

FTR, they didn’t watch the female nudity last week either. It’s not like I just don’t want them to see gay sex. I’m trying to avoid them seeing sex/nudity in general.

Well that was a very short episode. Probably because I skipped over most of it.

I saw Joel and Ellie walk a bit, get some supplies, and drive off together. More of a webisode, really.
