The Joker movie is extremely depressing..is this an indictment
on society as a whole since i would assume movies are meant to make money by the producers and creators of movies.

They are warning people about this on the local news.

"Amid fears of attacks, the new movie The Joker premiered tonight..."

Saying that, they obviously think this is what the masses actually want to spend $15 to see.

Why are you paying $10 more than everybody else?

It’s absurd how people are acting like this is the only depressing movie made in the last couple years or how we randomly decide which movies are an indictment on real life vs those that aren’t

I don't think you understand depression.

And if you thought you were going to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I don't know what to tell you.

It didn't take long to figure out why critics are literally begging people to not go see it.

It's getting 93% audience and 69% critics on RT.

A sure sign of a must see movie.

And how many damn marvel movies can you make anyway without people saying "no more"?

They appear to be selling out every comic book movie, so you won't see that change until they stop doing that.

My Joker screening is about to start...

Can I get some thoughts and prayers from the movie board?

Edit: Just letting everyone know I’m out and ok.
Thanks

One of the more effed up movies you could choose to watch

Does a positive score indicate critics begging viewers not to see it?

I didn't say every single critic. It's quite unusual for so many critics to take such a strong stand against a movie that got early critical acclaim and by all indication wide popular acclaim.

69% is not a strong endorsement by any stretch.

I've been tricked into many a dud by a 90%+ RT score.
