I really like Temple of Doom but I might be biased because it was the first Indiana Jones movie I can remember watching.
Same. It’s the one that was always on TV when I was a kid.

Ready Player One was a damn fine movie
And while Spielberg may hate Hook, it’s the best Peter Pan movie.

4. Schindler's List (1993)
3. Munich (2005)
Ain't that peculiar? And I'm not even putting the stink on either one - Schindler's List is a legit great movie.
(But TEN places ahead of Raiders?
I mean, there is little question that Jaws, E.T., and Raiders are the Top 3.
And the second JP movie THIRTY FIFTH? A bad movie? Sure. But most of that was just it wasn't as good as the first by quite a bit (we call that "Temple of Doom" syndrome.)
A.I. at 18? Only 4 places behind Raiders? I'm not saying it's 35th, but that movie must be flirting with the high 20s or higher.
I've been critical of Saving Private Ryan as it is generally way, way too overrated by most - the Normandy landing scene is as good as films get, but it drops off drastically after that. Did Steven direct TWENTY movies better?
List would need a lot of improvement to be merely shite.

West Side Story over Raiders? Sure Jan

for me jaws has not aged well pre cgi shark looks dated, it's a great book which i read after i saw the movie. hooper has an affair with brody's wife and dies in the book.
the central theme in the book is brody's inferiority complex revolving around being a townie, vs. the rich summer residents which was mostly left out of the movie.
compared to a movie of the same time period coma based on a micheal crichton book that movie, which i watched a couple of months ago on TCM and i thought that movie has held up great it still looks like a contemporary movie. where jaws just looks like an old movie because it is. it's 50 years old.
i think jaws could stand a remake.
my favorite seilberg movie is bridge of spies.

West Side Story
I heard WSS was really good, but I didn't see it. Anybody confirm if WSS is good or not?

JP2:LW gets too much hate. It's not near as good as the first one obviously, and there is some stupid in it. But it is still pretty damn good. But the simple fact that it ranks dead last is laughably stupid.
Far better than any Jurassic movie that followed...

Ready Player One should be higher
Posted on 6/16/26 at 6:38 pm to RollTide1987
The top 5 should be, in any order you prefer but chronologically
Jaws
Raiders
ET
Schindler’s List
Saving Pvt Ryan
With Jurassic Park next

You’re entitled to your opinion but Jaws is probably the best example ever of a movie being better than the book
