He also spent a lot of time and effort in getting Anakin to understand that the only way to save her was through using the Dark Side of the Force. The whole story line between Sidious and Anakin is pretty fascinating.

The mind frick he gave Anakin when he revealed himself as a sith was pretty impressive. Basically, the jedi are full of shite, in order to be complete you must be open to all teachings. Your wife is going to die, and only I can help you keep her from doing so, but I am also going to give you the release that will allow you to kill her. Now go kill those damn jedi rugrats.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing it was dismissed as no longer canon.

One thing about that though, while the EU books, comics, and games are no longer valid, the books based on the movies still are canon.

This is what I would really want to see a Trilogy or duo of movies about. frick. Just copy the story word for word from the video games. I loved it.

The more times I watch the trailer the more it reminds me of of A New Hope.. Whether they can pull this off correctly will be tantamount to the series..

Exactly.

Plinkett's review shows how hilariously stupid Lucas made the Jedi Council. It was so obvious that Palpatine was behind it all and yet Mace Windu and even Yoda were blind to it.

Thanks.

How far in the future is this one supposed to be (after Return)?

I think about the amount of real years since ROTJ... So ~30 years... I could be wrong though

This line of Sith Lords went first through Bane all the way down to Sidious. But what broke the line is that when Sidious's apprentice killed him, instead of finding his own apprentice and keeping the line going, he instead turned from the Dark Side and then died.

Unless, of course, Luke turns...

One thing about her death that I've read about is that it was not actually Anakin that killed Padme. Instead it was Sidious himself that killed her. He did this through a Dark Side "spell" where to keep one person alive, you basically steal the life essence of another. In this instance, in order to keep Vader from dying during his surgery that encased him in his suit, Sidious drained Padme of her life essence. This had the double benefit in his eyes of both saving his new apprentice while at the same time making sure he had nothing else other than his new master left in his life. On top of that, it would fill Vader with even more hate, despair, and pain thus heightening his connection to the Dark Side of the Force.

This movie is set like 30 years after Return of the Jedi.

Would make sense given the age of Ford, Fisher, etc. in the trailer.

Definitely looks like it will be cool.

that just shows you how powerful Darth Sidious really was, and how content with power Yoda and Windu were.

Sidious realized that Anakin was the ace in the hole and whoevers side he was on would win. Yoda and Windu were too stupid to realize this for some reason and it came back to bite them in the arse. Yoda couldn't even defeat Dooku or Sidious when he fought them. One thing i learned from the prequels is Yoda wasn't as powerful as we thought, and the emperor is a bad arse.

Palpatine could see how it would all unfold, and he influenced it to his liking. Yoda was off meditating about god knows what blind to it all.

Well, it's no longer canon, but in the original story line, Luke does for at least a time turn to the Dark Side of the Force and even becomes the apprentice of a revived Sidious.

I highly doubt that's still in the new story line though. I do think it would be pretty cool if as part of this new story they at least show Luke struggling between the Dark & the Light. He always seemed to me to be pretty open to the Dark Side.

I think Obi-wan's relationship with Anakin is mostly fine. He was easily the one Jedi most sympathetic to Anakin's problems, but he was a lifelong Jedi and couldn't relate to Anakin in the way Palpatine was able to.

From a film standpoint, you do get the feeling that most of the bonding happened off screen which I never liked. During Episode II, Obi-Wan and Anakin are teacher/student but at the start of Episode III, they are best friends

I've heard speculation that it is.

I believe that it is not coincidence that he has a blue light saber. It's widely speculated and leaked that the movie is for the search of Luke's first saber. The fact that he has a blue light saber is not chance.

Perhaps Yoda saw the inevitability of Anakin's fall and the ability of Anakin to eventually kill the Emperor, who was extremely powerful and manipulative and brutal.

My one question is what is Kylo Ren trying to finish that Vader started?

The complete annihilation of the Jedi (meaning he is hunting Luke to kill him)
The completion and use of a death star to conquer the galaxy?
The capture and turning of Luke to the Dark Side?

Vader had more than a handful of goals he was working toward.
