Was I the only one who thinks it's Luke and R2?

What order? Start from when they were released or by episode number.
IV, V, VI and skip the prequels. They give you nothing you need to know for this.

Yeah, but most people will remember all of that as parlor tricks and voodoo, nothing more. Holovids will be forgotten and you'll have some old guy reminiscing about how naievee they were to believe in hocus pocus.

The Star Wars Saga is episodes 1-6, so watch them all in that order. You'll appreciate the sequels more.

The frick? What crack are you smoking.
Original Trilogy. Skip prequels unless you really, really feel like it, and only after you've watched the OT.
Anything else makes me heavily question someone.
Meh, I'm gonna watch the 1-6. Want to watch it in order with the rise and fall of the empire

I may be wrong, but I got a sense from what Han was saying in the trailer that 30 years after the death of Vader & Sidious, the Jedi and Sith both have sort of passed into legend. Notice how the told them "it was all true, the Dark Side and the Jedi". It's almost like he's telling them something they thought was just fairy tales is actually true.
But now that I say that, I'm not sure how anyone could not know that at least the Jedi were once real since it was only a little over a generation ago that there where thousands of them living at the very heart of the galaxy in a huge temple and they were highly public figures. I could see the average person not knowing that the Sith were still around only 30 years ago since Sidious never revealed his (or Vader's) real identity to the public. But the Jedi were very well known.
But still, why should Han, or anyone for that matter, think the Force exists? I'm sure everyone knew the Jedi were badass, but they didn't exactly understand all of their powers and what the Force could actually do. I really think that's the extent of the knowledge of the Force for the majority of the universe.

Just making sure. There were like 10 people bitching at the start of the thread he wasn't in it, when I thought it was very obvious where he was in the trailer.

Need an answer ASAP from someone knowledgeable about how this movie was filmed: Buying tickets right now for the premier night (7:00 pm). 3 options are 2D, 3D, and IMax3D. I've already eliminated the regular 3D because in general I cant stand 3D and I wish studios would just stop it already
But I can tolerate 3D on the IMax since there is no IMax2D option. Anyways, I'm torn between normal 2D and IMax3D. Does anyone know about how the movie was filmed (percentage of movie shot on IMax camera, whether 3D was part of the original filming or just post-filming added effects, etc.)? Anybody who could shed some light to help me decide would be appreciated.

bullshite. You don't learn dick about the Force in the first 3 aside from bacteria being a part of it. It ruins the twist in the Empire Strikes Back. Shame on you for suggesting otherwise.

You have Star Wars fans in this thread, and you have people who think Peter Mayhew is the guy who does the voice over for Chewbacca.

Is it really a twist if I've already seen the movie 20 times?

Any chance Yoda is still alive? Wasn't he like centuries old?

I think that most people forgot that a high level Imperial officer basically insinuated that the followers of the force were crazy while in the same room as Darth Vader. Very few people knew of the Force.
At the beginning of a new hope there was:
The emperor who was hidden from the public as a Sith Lord, Vader who by all accounts was simply giving orders at the highest levels of command and ensuring they were followed, so the general public wouldn't know him, Obi-Wan who was hidden in a desert, and Yoda hidden in a swamp. And a new hope takes place a generation after the slaughter of the Jedi.
As far as the public is concerned, the Jedi were a once noble order dedicated to the force who went insane, slaughtered their own children, and then were executed as terrorists. There's a no reason anyone would know of the Sith other than Rumors. And empire propaganda would've all but wiped the Jedi off the earth.
Luke's exploits would've been only known by a small number of people and the true identity of the emperor and Vader to almost no one. It's easy to see why the vast majority of the universe's general public might have forgotten all this by now. Plus, it's easy for people to forget or ignore tails of insanely powerful masters of a magical force that allows them to do all kinds of shite normal people csnt do.
Plus it's been 2 or 3 generations since the Jedi were widely known. More than enough time for propaganda and shite to murk up the memories.
I'm excited that the set up and beginning of these movies is very similar to New Hope. Limited force knowledge and users, unknowing public, large evil force, etc...
I'm also excited to see where they go with Luke.
He wasn't a life long trained Jedi master. He was a prodigy who barely had it figured out before his dad, a true trained bad arse, saved the day. Anikan is the true hero of the series. Had he not decided to help his son, Luke would've just died. So with everyone else dead, how does Luke deal with his powers, especially if they're amplified. And how will the new force users learn and grow.
I cannot wait for this movie.

Well, if you're going to reveal it to your kid, then you don't start off with Episode I. You clearly start off with the original.
And while Xero will roll his eyes at this, they really need to ignore the prequels and get some highly competent people to remake them. Yes, I know Star Wars has some solid TV series based around the Clone Wars, but they highly rub me the wrong way by having nothing but disposable troops with no families to speak of.
