So I’m about halfway through season 2, and it’s alright. It’s well done, but I still don’t get the hype behind it. So far there hasn’t really been anything that’s blown me away, but my question is....

Do they bring back Joe Miller (Thomas Jane’s character)? He crashed into Venus with the proto-chick Julie Mao, and once his character went away I’ve slowly lost interest in the show. So I just want to know if he comes back or not in a later season.

If you got to that episode and think it’s just alright I really gotta question your tastes

That said - season 3 is GOAT

There’s just a bunch of shitty actors that ruin whole storylines for me. Shohreh aghdashloo is a TERRIBLE actress, and the chick that plays the main Martian marine, Draper I think is her name, is terrible. Those two storylines are ruined by both of them.

I just keep thinking about how much I wish Mary McDonell had aghdashloo’s role.

I also don’t get the universal hype surrounding this show. I’m almost done with the first season. Not sure I’m going to watch beyond that.

This show never clicked with me. The characters are underdeveloped, the actors are second rate, and the show is just flat out boring for long stretches.

I wish a better network had gotten their hands on it instead of SyFy. Maybe it’s better now on Amazon, IDK.

Agreed. Totally hate her and the character she plays.

She's bad, not terrible. At least she's easy to look at compared to the other lady.

Cara Gee (Drummer) is an awful actress and character in the show. As is David Strathairn (Ashford). But, I hate the whole Belter story line, their fake arse accents, etc, etc, etc.

With all that said, I'm emotionally invested in the show. I like the overall story line and think there are a bunch of directions they can take it now. It's a well done sci-fy series.

So you just want people to spoil it for you? But the answer is sort of yes. Jan's character is what got me interested in the show and that led me to read the books. I don't like show draper compared to the books but I think she's gotten a lot better over time. Character development in the books doesn't really happen a ton until later on I thought.

If people don't like it they dont like it. No one likes everything. It's certainly the best scifi show running right now.

Agreed, but the show is great in spite of her

Yes, at first. S3 she really finds her way and settles into the role. There was way too much overacting of bravado in S2.

I felt S2 was good, but Draper annoyed the shite out of me. By the end of S2 is when I was truly hooked to this show. S3 takes it to elite levels.

It starts finding it's groove mid to late season 2 and season 3 it's where it hits it's stride

Just finished it in the last few weeks. The first season is slow. Stuck with it, and it’s been worth it. Didn’t like the last season as much as the previous two, but it was still good enough.

She’s a fine actress struggling with a poorly written character.

I will say that another actor/character I hated at the beginning was Amos, but he’s slowly won me over.

The frick? Amos is easily one of the best and has been since this show started. Dude kills the role. Only Thomas Jane is better.

100% agree with with this.

I didn't like show avasarala much but she's grown on me. Will never Really like but she's good enough.

Next season should be really fun and provide that character background some people want.

Amos is my favorite character on the show. There’s a mystery to him and I hope we get his whole story

I just finished the first book, and TJ absolutely nailed this role. He brought Miller from the pages to screen as perfectly as Olyphant did Raylan Givens

The only problem I had with the TV series is the characters are younger than I viewed then in the books, except for maybe Miller. Otherwise it is a great translation of an excellent book series. Just waiting on the final book to drop this year.
