I'll add that the season did kind of remind me of season 1 of true detective, where the older timeline was far more compelling than the current one.

Superman was great. What the frick are you talking about?
You were ok with Superman's Parents sending him here to enslave humanity?
Posted on 10/7/26 at 1:13 pm to arktiger28
absolutely i was. the whole point of the movie was to show Superman is just as if not more human than any actual human being.

Sure. It's not too much of an exaggeration of Jor-El and Lara from Byrne's run in the late 80's. Also Smallville toyed with a similar idea. It's not a new concept.

That had nothing to do with the point of him being human. Ma and Pa Kent’s function has always been to ground an overpowered being with humanity. They’re what make him human not some perversion of his kryptonian parents who only sent him here because he could survive here and their planet was facing annihilation. Gunn’s manipulation of his parents is a running theme in his universe that’s contrary to the characters he’s defacing. They have no interest in any of these characters, in the Tom King interview he doesn’t even know who Superman’s parents are.

I hated everything about this series. I hate that Hal was killed. I hate how depowered and weak the green lanterns looked. I hate how they presented the manhunters. I hate the guardians were tall. I hate that John Stewart got a qwardian power battery. I hate that Guy Gardner is nothing but a corporate yes man. FFS, we barely get to see anyone use the ring.
This show is just a gross misunderstanding of the corps in general, and these specific characters in particular.

It's not a misunderstanding. They debase and distort these characters on purpose. It's by design.

how'd Noah bust Sinestro out and wouldn't the guardians be freaking out that he's out there?

King makes a comment in the interview of “if we had good parents there would be no superheroes”. You could take that as maybe he’s ignorant but then he blames Batman’s parents for being murdered which is bizarre. It seems as though crime and murder are excused for whatever reason and heroism is seen as some type of toxic privilege. Whatever the motive is behind that view is irrelevant, the bottom line is you can’t write these types of characters if you view these things that way.

They're going to withhold the sheriff's hormone therapy and send her to the planet with a 9mm.

I think they understand it well enough, they just don't like it. And they really, really don't like Hal Jordan.

The writer says white men Hals age might have a black golfing buddy and might leave a black man everything in their will but they probably use the N word when no black people are around so they’re racist but she loves Kyle Chandler even though he’s a white man of that age. These people are sick

My final review of LANTERNS:
Everyone knows that I love Green Lantern and approached this project as a viewer with enthusiasm and credulity. I am not a reactionary bigot. My bigotry emerges slow and deliberately as all of the evidence slithers in. And at that point, could it be called bigotry? I dare say not.
I loved watching LANTERNS. I am not going to knock off points for it not being precisely what I would expect from a Green Lantern show. I’m not going to attack it’s budgetary constraints and limits. I’m game for whatever these folks are capable of putting on.
I watched carefully, week after week, enjoying guessing at the mystery. Listening closely to dialogue and gleaning clues from it. I was a good audience for LANTERNS.
I needed to watch all 8 episodes before rendering my verdict, because this has to be a matter of story and character. I have done so, without prejudice or malice.
And here it is: You failed. It shouldn’t have been hard to drag these characters through the hell you put them through and have them come out better for it by episode eight, but instead you tarnished and destroyed them. All of them. Even the Manhunters are reduced by this show.
John is a selfish, villanous a-hole. Kerry is a monstrously stupid and cowardly murderer, the Guardians are either weird schemers or absent entirely, Guy is a pussy and Hal…why did you need to murder him in such a hollow and meaningless, deeply depressing and sick way?
There is something deeply wrong with your entire writing room. I cannot believe James Gunn of GOTG fame could allow this sick nightmare to coexist with his typically fun superhero films. All of you should be ashamed for this profound failure.
People told me you hated Hal Jordan. I thought that was a stupid notion…but I think they were actually correct. That mental illness led you to destroy the terrific John Stewart, too. In trying to demote Hal, you killed John’s decency, loyalty and his soul.
I’m so sad about this result. Ask anyone. I loved watching the show and believed you stick the landing. Hal’s father stuck his landing better.
God have mercy on your souls.
1/10 stars. Pure evil, but Kyle Chandler was a revelation. Bless him.

Never really watched much with him in it. Never watched Friday Night Lights. What I have seen from movies and Lanterns, I like the dude. I started watching Mayor of Kingstown today. I thought to myself, "Cool, I didn't know he was in this show."

Spot on and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It would take a Mauler type video to go through all the problems with the show.

Maybe the best of the Sheridan shows but the S3 broke my heart so I couldn’t finish it.

I’ve watched or tried to watch, at least, a bunch of his shows. The westerns I couldn’t really get into but Landman is good. Lioness might be my favorite but Zoe Saldana is high up on my list of favorite actresses. Plus there is an aspect of Lioness that rings authentic to me and I rarely see it done true in other shows. I’ve watched one episode of Kingstown, not enough time invested for a heartbreak yet, just enough for an “ah, man, that sucks” at the end.

I like his characters but he’s much better writing a movie length story. When he does series they get repetitive and ridiculous. The Mayor of Kingstown keeps it on the rails much better than the others and is a pretty original idea. I don’t get that feeling of the show running out of story the way I do with his other shows.

He falls into that trap often. In the age of where we can watch the shows back to back it gets tiresome to watch characters step in piles of shite for no reason other than drama. You also don't have a whole week to forget how repetitive it can be
