His parents are trash.
But he's not. He speaks deliberately, annunciating all his words. He was not just an E9, but apparently one of the rockstar E9s that regularly rubbed shoulders with the top leadership of the USMC and the nation. Those types might (or might not) cut loose during a field exercise with nothing but other military around, but apart from that it's not encouraged in the military and hasn't been for a long time, although it does vary a bit across the spectrum. And they certainly don't say "axe". Yes, overall, junior enlisted can frequently talk like that but not leadership. Not in my experience, anyway.
And again, after my military career I don't even find the cussing annoying, just weird and out of character. Using "axe" is both annoying and out of character, just like if he was white top-echelon Marine and said "I seen the manhunter".

Is this show the Green Lantern show or the John Stewart show? It's just silly at this point. Not that it is all stupid and it is kind of compelling at times, but some stuff is really drawn out.
Did we really need twenty minutes between the worm hole and Sinsetro?
The side plot with the waitress is dumb. A lawyer costs 30k. frick her.
They can't look up numbers for an Olineman?

The show is absolutely awful in every way. It’s the DC version of Acolyte.

I now think that Hal made a clone of himself using the manhunter's technology immediately after John shot the manhunter, and it was the clone that went to prison while the real Hal freed Sinestro and set up everything. I also think it was most likely Hal that shot his clone as part of his "master plan" and the real Hal is still alive. It would explain why John's mother said that Hal wanted to apologize and yet the Hal that John met at the cafe didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Hal definitely is the one that broke Sinestro out of prison, yet I don't see how he could have done it if he was also in prison unless we are to believe that he somehow snuck that wormhole thing into prison with him.
This is a pretty solid guess. Them finding the gun in Hal's cube would also support this theory.

Yep. Completely unbelievable.

Some people, yes. Usually not people like John Stewart.
And I didn't notice the "fricks" as much as the "axe". That's totally out of character for him. I guess they can't have a light-skinned black man with light eyes act too white so they have to remind us that he is, indeed, black.
Did the light skin and eyes throw you off the fact that he's a black dude? "Oh shite, he said axe me, he's not white! I was tricked into thinking he's a Daywalker."

It's fine to not like it, but why do you continue watching?

I think that is just an example of Aaron Paul's British accent coming through. He tries to hide it, but I've heard it slip through multiple times this season.

That's not a bad theory, actually. I can get on board with that.

Can this lady just shut up already?
She clearly has a twisted mind that she got to display in her episode but it doesn't align with the rest of the show. She needs to go away.

For example, Loki. I liked it, because to me it was like I was watching a really good sci-fi show. I was into it. The rest of my family didn't get into it. Mostly because it wasn't really a Loki show.
This is a good show. Besides the Black-splaining junk, I am invested and they do a good job with individual scenes. However, for someone wishing for a Green Lantern show where Green Lantern is doing Green Lantern stuff, this show sucks.
The federal prison and town hate hand waving is bad writing IMO. If we never go back to his gas vision, it served no purpose.
It also bugs me when writers have characters tie themselves in knots by making stupid out of character decisions. Him trying to bribe that waitress makes no sense given what we know about him and how he operates.

quote:That cow just clarified exactly what is wrong with these shows. She likely has never picked up a comic book in her life. She's a product of HBO's DEI requirements for their writers' rooms. She has some idea of story telling, but nothing for source material. So she injects her own BS into the story.
Can this lady just shut up already?

Yea there was no way I was going to listen to that but you're 100% right. You have a DEI hire and the regular writers are having to cover over her mess the rest of the series.

Does anyone even listen to that stuff?
This finale feels like it's going to be moving at warp speed. I don't have a dog in the race since my only green lantern exposure was John in the animated show. That being said, I've enjoyed this so far. I really enjoy the Halogram version of Hal.

Not even close to being that bad.
