Noah's "offensive line". With those numbers (not even gonna get into their builds).
They're high school kids in a small, rural Nebraska town. They aren't going to look like Texas 6A linemen.
Also, did anyone else find the color combo to be a little too "projecting"? I didn't expect the ending but considering those are the two main colors from the comics I thought it a bit cheesy.
And finally... how does someone get killed by another person while staying in a perfectly sitting position?

Yeah, these showrunners probably don't follow football. Those are not Olinemen

Man we really are just complaining about literally everything now.

Oh, I'll admit I'm not a fan of over-theme'ing something (Tom Welling almost always wearing come sort of red/blue combo, in Smallville for example) and that it's probably a bit too nit-picky.
But the position Hal is sitting in?
He was supposed to have been killed by a 9MM shot to the head at point-blank range. For his body to have remained seated in that position, he would have had to have been held in that position until rigor mortis set in or he would have already been dead when he was shot.

I get it, it's not the realistic position. Unless they just propped him up after shooting him somehow.
It's a comic book show though. Batman Begins, TDK, Infinity War, Watchmen, etc. all the great super hero movies could be nit picked to death. I'm not saying this is on their level because it's not, just that even the best of them have stuff wrong with them if you examine every single little detail.
I'm sure they are simply doing it because it looks better visually than a crumpled over Hal in between two bleachers.
I nit pick stuff a lot too so this is kettle calling the pot black if I'm being hoinest but with super hero stuff you got to let more stuff slide.

The 3 guys in the middle I could buy as offensive lineman for a small high school. #40 on the left is definitely either a receiver or DB. #83 on the right looks like he has a son old enough to play high school football.

The most profane person you've ever met doesn't talk like this. I guess the alternative could be that you aren't gainfully employed and sit around like a loser all day, but no functioning member of society talks like this.
So, I take it you don’t know many infantry Marines. We talk like that for sure. Marines can use the f word like Smurfs use the word “Smurf”.
I agree that he would have to change in a professional setting, but working with Hal, a fighter pilot by training, I could see him reverting to that language.

Yeah, I responded to that on the previous page:

Right. He talks like he's a newly enlisted military grunt at war, not like a man who has founded his own company and can pull out $315,000 at the drop of a hat.

no one at John Stewart's supposed professional level and status talks like this.

I agree. I responded before reading the rest of the thread so I adjusted my response.

All good. I didn't recognize your name so I didn't leave in some of the more incendiary things I said to give you the benefit of the doubt. No worries here.

I don’t have any prior knowledge of the comic or the prior movies, but it’s been an enjoyable show thus far. I had zero expectations but I’ve certainly watched worse.

Curious since you're so bothered by f words. How old are you? Or what generation or you?
Because yes people talk like that.

Some people, yes. Usually not people like John Stewart.
And I didn't notice the "fricks" as much as the "axe". That's totally out of character for him. I guess they can't have a light-skinned black man with light eyes act too white so they have to remind us that he is, indeed, black.

I think all of this sounds plausible. But you see I had to a crap ton of speculation in order to get to this point. I do really wish this was actually spelled out more in the show.
We still don't have the full picture of what is actually going on. The way that Hal was killed, who killed Hal, what was Hal doing on the other planet, why was he talking to the mom, why did he tell John to come down. I'm optimistic all of this will get answered in a way that makes sense including why he chose to go to jail for 10 years. The Halogram made it a point to say that Hal doesn't kill. It seems unlikely to me that someone who doesn't kill would agree to go to prison unless he actually wanted to go to prison. It also seems like Hal knows things that would explain his behavior/attitude towards John. If we are to believe the sheriffs words, he clearly thought highly of him, his attitude probably was bc he is trying to steer him in a certain direction

Hal killed himself or Sinestro killed him. Those are the only two villains in this shows opinion.

I now think that Hal made a clone of himself using the manhunter's technology immediately after John shot the manhunter, and it was the clone that went to prison while the real Hal freed Sinestro and set up everything. I also think it was most likely Hal that shot his clone as part of his "master plan" and the real Hal is still alive. It would explain why John's mother said that Hal wanted to apologize and yet the Hal that John met at the cafe didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Hal definitely is the one that broke Sinestro out of prison, yet I don't see how he could have done it if he was also in prison unless we are to believe that he somehow snuck that wormhole thing into prison with him.

The cussing is annoying as hell. But he hasn't been doing it whenever he's in a professional setting. There's a member at the country club I belong to that is a billionaire lawyer that is one of the top injury lawyers in the country. Has a house on Pebble Beach golf course. Safe to say a professional guy. Guy has a mouth like a sailor in a casual setting. I'm around people at work that cuss quite a bit more than John, the problem is that John's isn't natural. He has almost a soft spoken voice and is talking normal then almost shouts frick in the middle of the sentence. Pretty cringe.

His parents are trash. Not surprising.

So allow me to be perfectly succinct for the idiots on this board who only care about things being succinct when it suits them: no one at John Stewart's supposed professional level and status talks like this. I shouldn't have had to spell it out like that for anyone with a functioning brain cell, but I should have recognized my audience here. My mistake.
