Maybe it does, I don’t know anything about source material comics.
I do know, 999999999/100000000, these days, it’s much closer to my interpretation. For example, the last of us had a full on dumbass episode in season 1 and season 2 took a rocket ship to faggotsville and I didn’t even finish it.

My gosh. She lays it all out. The writers of this show view Hal as a villain. They are pathetic pieces of garbage.

Yep, she definitely has contempt for Hal. The good news she's done now. She's not listed as a writer for any of the remaining episodes.

I guess that's good news, but every other episode has struck the same tune with Hal so I don't know why anyone would think it'll get better.

That isn’t good news. She laid the foundation for the entire show, there is no escaping it because everything that comes after is built on what she did. The entire writer’s room will continue to write the characters informed by that interpretation
It sucks they turned a brand new comic book cinematic universe into a shitshow political disaster before the universe even got moving. It took marvel quite some time to go down that path

I disagree, but only slightly. When you get into the liberal bubbles (where a lot of these people dwell), no contrarian (much less competing) stance is allowed. This then insulates the group enough from reality for them to truly believe what they want is what the majority of people want.

I knew that episode was going to be not well liked. I find it heavy handed with the "black in America" stuff. Like yeah we get it. Times were hard and shite. We know. I don't want it in my scifi or superhero movies.

writers like her are why people think there's "comic movie fatigue" People aren't tired of the product, just the forced, completely non subtle messaging.
the messaging has always existed but man this era of writers just seem to have to scream the message out at you with the subtlety of a drunken gorilla
never been into green lantern but the first 2 episodes were solid enough, this episode was pretty bad though. I guess the hallmark of the gunn DCU is shitty parents.

I will never understand their need to take this dynamic.
When the Guardians first approached Hal about adding John Stewart, he voices his reservations - and the Guardian presumes Hal has an issue with John's skin color, but Hal states that he sees a lot of anger in John and isn't sure how he'll handle being a Green Lantern. Hal's simply not racist - he's the one that officially invites John and they become really close friends (both being the former military of the Earth Green Lanterns helps - Hal was Air Force, John was Marines).
But no, Hal being racist is absurd - the man interacts with ALIENS. You think a guy who has no issue with purple people and 4-armed people and talking spheres and a sentient planet and talking squirrels is going to have a problem with BLACK HUMANS? It's absurd to the level of insulting.
They're erasing the friendship between the two and it sucks. They clearly never read the actual source material.
