Watched the first episode of this today and its exactly what i thought it would be, its hilarious
. The fiance' loves Tim Robbins, we both died to Friendship, but i think hes hit or miss. I loved Friendship but thought Detroiters sucked. Havent seen his other stuff. That being said i think this series could be his best work yet. Crying and commenting on the youtube video of that country song

Def check out his sketch comedy show "I think you should leave" on Netflix. ....he swings for the fences of absurdity and totally commits....sometimes it hits sometime not. When it does hit.... its gold.

I always liked this one...

I'm rewatching the series now and some sketches that didnt hit with me before do now. You kinda got to shift into that get in that gear of comedy...a little smoke helps...
This one had me cracking up earlier.

The drive through skit was the only hard laugh that S3 got from me. There were a few other solid skits throughout, but it was mostly shite. (ETA: I brought this up because I thought it was what Thumper posted, but it was an skit from one of the superior earlier seasons).
I really liked the first episode of Chair Company. The directing style is treating it 100% like a serious mystery/thriller show, and I think that most of the actors are trying to do the same (though there's not a ton of talent outside of Phillips and Bell, who aren't exactly Daniel Day Lewis). But it's a clever idea and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Same. I’ve given his stuff multiple tries now. I get what he’s doing, but it just doesn’t land for me.

He's actually a great actor, but he's not funny in the least. Interesting, but not funny.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but this seems a little harsh.
The thing is though, you're right about what he's doing. He's not really trying to be funny most of the time. One of the first things he said to Paul Rudd when they started working on Friendship was that they needed to take out all of the jokes.
It reminds me of what Jeffrey Tambor said to the cast of Arrested Development when they started, "no winking". The only way for that type of material to actually be funny was to play everything straight. That's what Tim does, mostly. He plays absurd situations as straight as possible. I get why most people probably don't find his stuff funny but to me it's a breath of fresh air.

I just don’t get Tim Robinson..
Same. The jokes just keep going, and gets really uncomfortable after a while. Whatever he does, he's tapping right into what this generation wants in comedy. I can't get into it. I want you all to get the hell off my lawn.

Thought the first episode was pretty solid, but the second episode was just bizarre

For 50 seconds I thought that was real. That thing is with us on Earth!

Same, but it is a little disjointed. A lot of the scenes feel like little vignettes that they couldn't turn into full sketches for ITYSL.
They're funny, but not always cohesive to the plot/story.
But I was rolling in ep 2 at the clothing store. "He's at his limit"

I liked when he was in the car with his new security hire, who was listening to two guys randomly shouting vulgarities on his stereo. Great WTF moment.
Absurdism can be a hard sell… but I really do appreciate it when comedy leans hard on it and trusts the audience to find it funny.

While he totally suckered him into signing up for their members only club. Then he was getting blasted with text messages and emails from the club.
I think one text message stated how they were happy they had another Ron.
It's really out there but funny.
