Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on last night’s episode of Comedy Central’s “South Park”:
The October 3rd episode of “South Park,” titled “A Boy and a Priest,” portrayed molesting priests as pedophiles. This is factually inaccurate: almost all the molesters–8 in 10–have been homosexuals. Therefore, the cartoon-victim characters should have been depicted as adolescents, not kids.
In Hollywood, the creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are seen as courageous. They are really cowards. It takes courage to tell the truth.

Is this from the Onion?

First off, is the Catholic League anything like the justice league (the frick is the Catholic League)?
Second, if this isn't satire, then I'd bet that this Donohue guy has fricked a few kids.

I thought it was all made up, but the Catholic League and Bill Donohue are real (and he makes $500k from it).

wtf. "Hey cut us some slack! Only 20% of our rapes have been against children."

The Catholic League is an American organization that whines and boycotts whenever the media (or anybody) does something they perceive as "anti-Catholic."
For example, they freaked out when President Bush put "Happy Holidays" on their cards.

The episode which actually somewhast spot on, as usual for South Park.
For the most part Priests are good, faithful well-meaning individuals who are railroaded often by the Lavender Mafia and the Bishops. The problem is in the power structures of the Church, which the episode nailed.
This was actually much more well intentioned than their first run at the situation, and ended on the right note. Run the bishops out, get better and ask for penance. Maxi's monologue at the end was great.

Exactly. The Catholic Boat episode was blasting the Catholic Church and priests molesting kids. I saw this episode as showing that the townspeople and Catholic leadership (bishops, cardinals, etc) as antagonists, and your everyday priest as a protagonist. It wasn't at all what I was expecting from the episode, which was refreshing. They hit the nail on the head. The Catholic League shouldn't be commenting at all.

So his marketing pitch is basically, “Most of the time, our priests will wait until your sons hit puberty before we rape them”?. Bold strategy. Instead of saying something along the lines of how the church is trying to amends and move forward in a constructive manner to make sure the institutionalized sexual abuse can never happen again and South Park is just crude and childish, offering nothing to the conversation, they chose to say “South Park got the facts wrong, our priests are homosexuals and mostly just rape 13 year olds. Only a few of them are actually pedophiles and rape 10 year olds. Therefore all of this irrelevant and South Park is spreading lies.”

They are completely safe to ignore and mock.

Kinda missing the whole point, aren't you, Mr. Donohue?
