Unfortunately, time moves on.

The original comic was heavily invested in the time in which it was published during the War On Terror, which meant that adapting it either meant major changes or having to effectively make it a period piece.

Aye like I've said, it's a big take that at the 00's.

With some historical bites at things like the Mark 14 torpedoes, M-16s in Nam, and Aircraft production in general. I really really hope the 737 Max gets the finger in season 2.

Probably a double “take that”, the way I am thinking.

Use it to deploy a bunch of supers somewhere and have it crash en route.

I actually would prefer that it was willing because that leaves Butcher in a place where he is forced to transform or die pushing his character into unknown territory. He has to redefine his purpose from revenge into something greater.

Putting it that way makes sense. I was focusing on everything that motivated him leading up to that moment. Seeing what he does now will be exciting to watch as long as he flips the switch and keeps the same energy and drive moving forward.

Butcher’s storyline may unfold quite differently moving forward - with him dealing with his wife’s decision, even (and this is my opinion) if it may have been to purposely get pregnant - with someone capable of defeating Homelander, for everyone has seen the unlimited powerful (and insane) force he has become.

If you recall the doctor called him the greatest mistake (and added the part about needing a mother) and Madelyn stated they have thrown everything on earth at him to look for weaknesses and haven’t found any. And everyone, I mean everyone, is scared of him and his ultimate potential - being an earth-scorcher.

The son is (was, maybe still will be) the plan to eventually bring him down.

Aye, Vogelbaum greatest failure, Stillwell serving as a surrogate mom too late, and Becca being Butcher's one good thing all adds up to that.

The only way to save Becca's character is if Vought laid it out on the line of you're "New Mary".

Which makes Vought oddly competent this time around.

If they pull off Injustice's imagine moment I will be in awe.

They may want to crib some portions of JMS’ Supreme Power and Squadron Supreme from the Marvel “Ultimate Universe” for this, as one of the big arcs was the government raising Hyperion (Homelander / Superman) and then wondering what they could do to control him and keep him in line. And, failing that, what they could do to kill him if he decides he doesn’t want to listen.

It covers a good amount of the same territory as The Boys except it is superhero and government focused rather than having street level heroes like The Boys actively keeping the supers in line.

I doubt they go with either extreme with Becca - she wasn’t raped nor was she a starry eyed girl who just wanted to get super dong. She was coerced or convinced in some manner. Maybe she was lied to in that “if you let me do x, you be/become y”. Maybe the kid wasn’t a part of the plan.

Either extreme will turn me off to her character and honestly undermines Butcher tremendously. They have to find a suitable gray area.

And I could listen to Starlight read a dictionary for hours. That fricking voice

Just finished. This may be the best series yet on Amazon. I’m not big on superhero stuff but this was like breaking bad mixed with superheroes mixed with Tarantino. Just a fun and interesting story.

The characters definitely have that sliding scale of gray to them that Game of Thrones was known for. You really can’t say any character is purely evil or bad. The only character you can really say is purely good is probably Starlight.

Yeah but she whines most of the time on screen.

My favorite character is deep.

The thing great about the show is that it makes you think how people in power(politicians) are really like behind closed doors. Because in public, we see similar behavior between these “superheroes” and the politicians.

This was a great season of television. I'm looking forward to season two. Top notch effort by Amazon. Top notch.

This. I’ve questioned every single character and their real motives, except Starlight. The depth of their characters is top notch and extremely compelling. I was rooting against Homelander most of the season until the last minute of episode 8
