With how fast they went in this one to the goal in the series of supes in the Military, do you think we only get two seasons?

Stillwell dying and Homelander now knowing he can reproduce and has a child makes me think that the push for inclusion in the military will take a hit.

Just a guess.

One of the best things this show did was start off strong with a great first episode. Most shows, even great ones, start off clunky and weirdly out of place with the rest of the episodes

I think what helped them accomplish this is they skipped the lame “hey dumb audience member, this is who everyone is and here is the plot dumb dumb” intro that most shows fall into. Instead they just picked up in the plot and let the information flow to the viewer in a natural timing that kept you interested in learning more while not slowing down the pace of the show.

The girlfriend exploding and Hugh left holding her severed arms, right after they made it seem like she would be a central character in the show, had me hooked immediately.

Yep, one of the rare shows that I will say you can watch the first episode and know if you’ll like it too.

I loved the fight between Black Noir and the Katanna actress.

Quick. To the point.

Not a drawn out punch for punch Ninja wet dream, fast and deadly as you would expect it to be. And no sticking around for a pensive stare. She gets her hits in, he kills her and moves on.

And I loved that the entire series is from the point of view of the "villains". Being stalked, hunted by superheroes, knowing that the slightest screw-up will put them on their super-senses.

Did I miss them explaining what Homelanders relationship to Stillwell was? I remember thinking that she may have been a milk-maid for him and other supe babies (i.e. teddy). Was I totally off on this?

That second part is possible, but mostly she’s just a manifestation of his Mommy issues from not growing up a normal child and instead in a lab with doctors. She was likely the first female presence in his life and that messed him up

There was a brief conversation about her being his handler, and a mention about how long they had been together. I would assume she was put in place specifically because of mother issues and they used that against him. But obviously it became a bit muddled over time. She got a big role in Vaught based upon him becoming the strongest of the heroes.

This is a good take IMO. I just finished E8 this weekend, but I honestly got bombarded to watch and knew some expectations. Not spoilers, but it hits the ground running and I'm going to enjoy.

With expectations so high, it took me into E2 to embrace the awesome. But damn, so good. Love the dark foreshadowing and character development reveals.

I've stated before that I think Lost is the best "hit the ground running" show back in the day. The Boys is right there.

I don't remember the last time I turned on a new series and got hooked (since Chernobyl). More people need to be watching and talking about this.

I picked up the comic to give it a read and dropped it quick. Having Simon Pegg as the lead character is distracting, and it's all just too balls-out fricked up for me. I'll stick with the Amazon show.

Yeah i think it’s similar to the difference between Kick arse the movie and Kick arse the comic book

It’s a fun Wikipedia read tho. They seem to have changed the ending up to the point where it wouldn’t really spoil much

Aye with homelander making a dynasty for himself instead of using Vought American's own machinations to make his own army of dickery it changes things.

Black Noir not being who he is in the comics changes things big time for the endgame.

Not sure how I feel about some of the changes so far. Don’t get me wrong, absolutely loved the show, but there was some cool stuff in the comics that I really hope they don’t leave out

Some changes are good, like Wee Hughie being proactive.

I could see this still being the same, just using a different route to get there.

Doubt all he’s there for is comic relief like he was this season

I thought he was Michael Shannon's son from how he looks.

Dont know anything about the comics, but the first season was pretty enjoyable. Black Noir sitting down next to the pianist and the Deep's failed attempts to save the lobster and dolphin made me

Gonna have to explain a lot with a dead Stillwell and The Female fighting him so well. Between this and the MCU vs DCEU thread I wish I could find the page where Stillwell gets the simulation results of The Boys vs The Seven
