No he was not blind. If you remember when they went to the old people's house towards the end and he mentioned that their hands were shaking from comsuming too much human flesh. He just learned how to read the braile.

she was rattling the cup and saucer when the old lady served him tea. that's how he knew they had the shakes.

He definitely was. His eyes were cloudy at the end and there were clues in the movie where he bumped into a few things and his conversation with the blind woman was a big red flag.

My take is that he was blinded by a nuclear detonation. That begs the question of who taught him Braille after the holocaust and what benefit there really would be to that. The movie was pretty mediocre and the idea of divine inspired Kung Fu fighting seems pretty comical. The fact that the leader of the group rebuilding civilization spoke with a classical British accent was pretty pretentious as was the scene at the end where the Bible was slipped onto the shelf between the Koran and Torah (apparently God found it easier to save those). About par for the course from Hollywood.

He had a kmart greeter name tag in his bag. Apparently they had a program for blind people. This points to him being blind before the war.

It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I think this is right. I think I remember him not really being able to describe the explosions to Mila Kunis's character.

I think it was pretty obvious that he was blind. Now, he may have been superhuman blind (ie, his other senses were crazy awesome so he could "see" with them), but he definitely couldn't see with his eyes.

If you watch the movie again it is OBVIOUS he is blind. He never shoots first and feels around on everything before he moves around. The fight scene under the bridge he backs out of the way of the sunlight's heat so he leveled the playing field just a tad. The lady's cup and saucer were rattling.

Whoever says he wasn't blind is retarded and/or were not paying attention at all. It was clear.

He was supposed to have divine intervention to deliver the last bible on Earth to safety so it can be replicated and Christianity can be saved and he did that then died after the mission is complete.

So if you devote all your attention to one thing, it wouldn't be that hard to memorize the bible.

Really?

Memorizing the Bible is one of the least unrealistic things about the movie. Furthermore, it is pretty clear he was blind and that he had divine guidance.

LOL at all of this..... Of course he was blind which is why he had cloudy white eyes at the end of the film... He had help from God to do all of this. Watch the shoot out in the street again you literally see bullets bouncing off a "field" around his back

I thought they made it pretty obvious that he was going blind, and ended up so at the very end.
