Two things:

1) no fricking way anyone memorizes the entire damn bible.

2) was he blind too? WTF?

Yeah, I thought the premise was a bit of a stretch.

But it was still a pretty cool movie. I enjoyed it.

I didn't take that he was blind....just that the only bible he found was a braille and could read it or learned to read it.

I seem to remember him seeing things in the movie

I thought they made it pretty obvious that he was blind.

He was blind the entire time which makes the gunfights and combat fighting really ridiculous. You can say that he had some sort of "divine guidance" or something to help him on his quest. That's the only was to me that it could be plausible in a movie world.

good movie. Yes he was blind. 2nd - the movie made a point of it being his "calling" to get that bible out west. So if you devote all your attention to one thing, it wouldn't be that hard to memorize the bible.

Yeah he was blind...the real Eli was blind too. The only fight he lost was when everyone was standing around not making any noise at all so denzel couldn't figure out where they were

He was surrounded by guns in the street shoot out too...they were all shooting at him so he shot back, it the fight scene he lost he pulled out his pocket knife & was flailing around aimlessly but couldn't figure out where they were

That wasn't really a fight. He had already been shot and was getting weaker. It was just trying to show he still had a little fight left in him. Then, of course, he just falls over.

No he was not blind. If you remember when they went to the old people's house towards the end and he mentioned that their hands were shaking from comsuming too much human flesh. He just learned how to read the braile.
