This is actually an interesting idea. I've always worried that by the time I have kids and they are old enough to watch Star Wars, the prequels would dominate the scene and I would have no choice but to show them all of the movies. At least this way I can skip Episode I (and it can just be like a one off, expanded universe type movie like the blog points out), and the original trilogy is the more important one.

This completely hides the totally weird age gap between them from Episode I, and lends a lot of believability to the subsequent romance

yeah she had at least 15 years on him in Ep. 1, then they look the same age in 2 and 3

For an adult, just show New Hope and Empire and be done with it.

Some of you are saying you will use the OP's suggested plan with your kids. Take it from someone with two 8 year old boys, they love Episode 1. I thought it was garbage, but could see liking it if I was 5-10 years old.

Not even close, IRL, Natalie Portman is only 8 years older

I'll channel my inner nerd for a few minutes here and say that in the SW universe they were supposed to be about 4 years apart (Anakin born 42 BBY and Padme born 46 BBY). Star Wars years are divided into 10 months, instead of 12, so they were anywhere from 40-49 months apart in age based on the SW universe.

Anakin is discovered when he is 10, so that means Padme is supposed to be 14, so it isn't that strange, although maybe a bit creepy in the older babysitter type of way.

But in the movie the kid who played him was like 9 or 10 and Natalie was 17 or 18 which made it look/feel very weird.

How about a SPOILER warning in your OP?

If you are trying to get Starwars virgins to watch it some weird order, just say what order and put a disclaimer saying that if they don't trust why and want to know understand the reasoning behind that order, there will be major spoilers as they read further.

Your OP is spoilers galore and would really spoil the franchise for someone who has not seen it before.

THE PREQUELS DO NOT EXIST

I've often wondered how the Prequels would be viewed had people seen them when they were the same age as when they viewed 4-6.

Many of the flaws in the prequels are present in 4-6, but I get the feeling that many people hate to criticize nostalgia.

At this point I wonder how much the original three episodes appeal to younger audiences that never saw them before

The story is good in the first two episodes but the special effects are so badly out-dated it must be like trying to interest a child playing HALO in the virtues of Donkey Kong

They are must-read of you are a SW fan, just so you can form am opinion of them. I like them, but they're not perfect. Best post-ROTJ stuff out there, though.
