don’t get why people are surprised by the box office numbers. People aren’t going to the movies. Disney went out of its way (more than usual) to appease the Chinese for Mulan, is a movie about China (and a positive one at that), and is doing worse than Tenet.

Because people in China are showing up th theaters, they just don't care for Tenet. A movie called The Eight Hundred is close to 400 mil in China.

Reading this thread in reverse since this movie just mindfricked my brain.

Nolan is either a super genius, or he just sloppily threw together a movie based on a very neat concept. Honestly can’t figure it out right now. The fight scenes alone took some mega brain power and were the best parts of the film, but the overall presentation was just kind of shite.

Still think everyone should see it. Drags a touch but it’s just so fascinating and so different from anything I’ve ever seen before.

Movie was amazing. You absolutely have to see it in the best theatre possible. Sound during the action scenes blew me away. That being said it’s so godamn confusing, makes inception look pedestrian. Going to take at least 3 watches for me

They also don’t give much of a shite unless the movie is 90% CGI action. Didn’t that shitty Matt Damon Great Wall movie set records over there?

So essentially this movie was hyped on this board for the last year and failed to deliver?

I still don’t know what to think of the movie save for the fact that I stumbled onto the Weinstein Bros talking. Maybe it’s genius, maybe it’s a disaster, but I did not really understand it. I’ll have to watch it again to decide.

Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” crossed the $200 million mark globally, propped up by overseas grosses while U.S. cinemas struggle to draw audiences during the coronavirus pandemic.

The time-bending sci-fi thriller generated $6.7 million in its second weekend of release, representing a 29% drop compared to opening weekend. Last weekend, Warner Bros., the studio behind “Tenet,” touted a $20 million debut. But a closer dissection of those numbers reveal they were heavily spun to include weekday preview screenings and the long holiday weekend. In reality, “Tenet” only made about $9 million between Friday and Sunday.

I took a half day Friday and went to a 2:00 showing at the second largest theater in Nashville. I know most people arent seeing movies during the day on Friday, but I might have been the only customer in the whole building.
