I didn’t think the sound issues were overwhelmingly bad, but there’s maybe 5-10% of the dialogue that’s tough to hear.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. Was a huge mindfrick from start to finish

The sound is downright horrible. You literally need subtitles to know what is being said. I can’t tell if it’s done on purpose or it was just missed

That just boggles my mind. I shouldn’t need subtitles to understand a film. WTF is he thinking?

I know several people who saw it and the main issue I keep hearing is the sound mix. Apparently it's really hard to hear the dialogue. Several posters here have mentioned that as well. I have no idea why Nolan thinks audiences are going to enjoy that.

Same issue with TDKR and parts of Inception. Dude must being going deaf

It’s too complex for a general audience. I love most Nolan movies and I do think this one will be better after multiple watches but your head is just spinning the whole time where you basically have no idea what’s going on until you watch it again or research it

Sounds like a poor story structure with an overthought plot

About halfway through and it’s a fun ride. Enjoying it so far.

ETA..this is fricked.

My first post halfway through was bc the movie stopped due to fire alarm. We all ushered out into the lobby and they said everything is fine, we will restart the movie.

Then, 30 minutes later the power goes out due to a storm and we all had to leave. Didn’t get to finish the movie.

Can’t even watch a damn movie in 2020.

I really didn’t think it was that bad. Some parts are a little difficult, but I think people are over exaggerating

I watched the lighthouse last night as well.
He’s just a good actor.

unlike his other movies, this has no powerful emotional center

Did you not get the whole reason Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) is in the movie? She is the emotional core. She is what connects The Protagonist to his mission plus her desire to be with and protect her son at all costs.

Frankly, I thought her performance is Oscar-worthy.

I walked out of this movie after an hour of trying. If you enjoying boring movies with a plot that is hard to follow, you may like Tenet.

What you experienced is about as seniscial as the second half of this movie

My only real complaint was that it needed a better lead. I love JDW, but he wasn’t ready for that role. Pattinson carries him throughout.

Staring blankly and regurgitating endless streams of exposition doesn’t exactly require Denzel Washington

“Contrary to mainstream moviegoers, I am not an unabashed fan of Nolan’s movies. For example, I find his best work was actually “Dunkirk,” in that movie he tried to abstain from giving us his usual puzzle and just made this masterfully technical and minimalist vision of WWII. Other films of his I like are “Memento,” “Insomnia,” “The Prestige” and “The Dark Knight (up until the final 20 minutes). No, I don’t particularly love “Interstellar” and “Inception,” they felt like forced visions to me, as if he was trying to show off, purposely confusing us in the process, rather than just telling his story in coherent fashion. I also never thought he was that great at shooting action, he doesn't like lingering on a shot for too long, always cutting from shot-to-shot. Regardless, “Tenet” is not “Dunkirk,” but we already knew that would be the case, it is, however, far better than “Inception” and “Interstellar” because a) there isn’t as much exposition b) the actors actually act, especially a stellar John David Washington, I also loved Elizabeth Debicki’s role, Robert Pattinson is the cool and calm demeaned fella ala DiCaprio in Inception c) the reverse-engineering plot device is actually not that complicated, you can actually follow this movie and not get too lost. Yes, much like some of his other movies, “Tenet” plays a lot with time and fate, but it does so in refreshingly concise ways. The action scenes are also flat-out great, It feel like Nolan has learned a lot from his experience in “Dunkirk,” he’s now much more confident in the way he stages his action, there’s barely any overreaching, it all feels very effortless.

This is kind of promising for me. I'm in the minority that agrees with this critic on Inception and feel like he kind of hit the nail on the head in his short critique of it. I won't be seeing Tenet in a theater, though, so I have to wait.

Ummmm, I'm just going to come out and admit it: I didn't get it. I haven't read the plot synopsis either (I will shortly after making this post), but I did not understand this about 25% of this movie. It felt like listening to the two Weinstein brothers talk to each other when you think you are a somewhat intelligent individual and they just completely talk past you. "Look, Eric, I get the ten dimensions, but how the frick did you get to 14 dimensions? Slow the hell down. And Bret I have no idea what you're talking about on molecular structure endings either."

I thought it was alright. I agree with what everyone has said about the sound mixing and confusing plot, but the lead actor is what really made this movie suffer. Pattinson routinely acted circles around the poor guy to the point where I felt bad for him. I wonder if at any point Nolan wondered if he should have given the lead to RP and cast someone else in his part. Having to watch such a wooden, uncharismatic actor while trying to grasp what was really happening made the film even more of a challenge than it needed to be.

Meanwhile, if #TENET was aiming for the long game, at least in #China there won’t be long game at all. #ChristopherNolan’s last production grossed est 2.1M at the local #BoxOffice on FRI, dropping almost 80% from its FRI opening. Cume is 42.8M, eyeing a 7-10M 2nd 3-day weekend.

I don’t get why people are surprised by the box office numbers. People aren’t going to the movies. Disney went out of its way (more than usual) to appease the Chinese for Mulan, is a movie about China (and a positive one at that), and is doing worse than Tenet.

In addition, Wonder Woman just got pushed back from October to Christmas. Clearly the box office is not very lucrative, no matter how popular a film is and excited people are to see it.
