It's a paradox if you think about time linearly.

It's a deterministic and non-linear perspective of time, which is the exact same perspective that was employed in Interstellar. All points in time exist concurrently and have always existed.

Any choice anyone can make in the film are in a Nash equilibrium, and thus loops around these events are accounted for in both directions.

If you think inception was a mess then your opinion is invalid and we can’t be friends.

I thought Tenet was very good but not great and can understand the criticism but inception was an all timer of a movie

Way too many plotholes in his movies
I haven't seen Tenet yet, but I've noticed over the year, that a lot of these so called "plot holes" aren't actually plot holes, or are at least not the typical definition of one (a logical inconsistency.

For example, I remember people discussing one of the so called "plot holes" in The Dark Knight. After Joker threw Rachel off Bruce's balcony at the party, Batman caught her, they landed on the car, and they just chilled there. But the plot hole was that we don't know what happened to the Joker, how he escaped, and why Batman didn't go after him.

Another so called "plot hole" from TDK was about the explosives on the ferries, specifically how the Joker managed to get them onto the ferries.

Now in both of these instances, you could say that there was "plot" missing that would have answered these questions and their exclusion was detrimental to the plot. But not knowing how every detail to get to a plot point happened is not the same as a plot hole. You could do this for probably every movie ever made.

In fact, it's been a while since I've seen it, but I think there are more questions about how they got the horse's head in the bed undetected in The Godfather than how the Joker got explosives on the ferries. And I think given the logic of their respective universes (Godfather entirely in a reality similar to our own; Batman in a reality closer to our own than previous versions, but still one with more fantasy elements), the missing plot in The Godfather universe and the questions it could answer is more inconsistent with its own logic and reality than in the Batman universe. Yet, The Godfather is universally considered one of the greatest films of all time.

It has to start somewhere.

And it is my biggest problem with Interstellar, since that could have easily been fixed with the initial pilot dying and Cooper being a last resort for the mission.

I just want to know what the frick is wrong with Nolan's sound mixing?

It's been horrible for too long for it to not be on purpose.

it's 100% on purpose, it was confirmed as such. basically nolan's directive is "as long as they get the gist of the conversation, we're okay"

Nolan has 0 interest in exploring concepts. they're all just vehicles for him to center his action setpieces around. that's why all his exposition is so jarringly fast and handwavey, he doesn't want you to get hung up on the concepts/rules and start asking questions. "we'll just whisk them away to the next setpiece"

alex garland is the exact opposite. all he cares about are the concepts and ideas, and he's not scared to slow things down to let you absorb them

I still haven’t seen Annihilation because I had heard bad things when it came out. Is it worth watching?

"Sucks" is a rather strong word, but I certainly wasn't endeared enough to spend a lot of thought on the movie.

People were absolutely fascinated with M Night Shymalam for a while.

shite comparison I know, Nolan is a much better filmmaker, but the point is that a filmmaker can build up a lot of esteem, goodwill, and a corps of fan boys based upon a couple of really good movies that resonated with them and it takes a while for that respect to be chipped away or called into question.

Shyamalan did so with a series of deflations that bottomed out into total crap.

Nolan obviously has not done that. His movies have been consistently solid. However, there is undoubtedly a tendency to elevate some of his works beyond their actual merits based upon his overall and past work.

It felt like listening to the two Weinstein brothers talk to each other when you think you are a somewhat intelligent individual and they just completely talk past you. "Look, Eric, I get the ten dimensions, but how the frick did you get to 14 dimensions? Slow the hell down. And Bret I have no idea what you're talking about on molecular structure endings either."

This is no lie. Last fall I went to a Tech game and afterwards I walked up the Hill to take some pics. Along the way I walked near about 4 band geeks and I swear they were having a conversation about time travel that I heard word for word 40 years ago.

I thought "None of these guys are bagging any more college girls than I am going to." (I am 59).

I think Tenet would have made a much better book with a lot of exposition to explain some holes.

It moved fast but I really enjoyed the time traveling MI/bond aspect of it.

Even dark knight has some weird arse lazy moments that bother the frick out of me to this day.

The explosion where everyone gets knocked over except the joker.

The car crash where harvey dent walks away unscathed.

It just seemed lazy.

I don't think I've ever had a film where my opinion has declined so much over the years than Inception

Top four Nolan Movie for me.
But I get it. I have a friend of mine who I agree with on most movies and he hates it. He doesn’t like Nolan movies.

I have not seen it since I saw it in the theater but I thought it like The Arrival did a great job of presenting an encounter with an alien life form that truly seems alien. I'm not sure if the last last act will have as much impact on the small screen but it was pretty intense in the theater.
