They increased the episode quantity and had to fill it with stuff about Keeley and it just wasn't as tight as the other seasons.

Good actress, but far from the bombshell the show tried to portray her as (to the point where everyone falling all over her is distracting). Expanding her story pulled the show's focus away from Ted to the point where it hurt the final season because her story became somewhat directionless.

For example, they built she and Roy getting together for the first two seasons, then completely shite on it to start off the 3rd and swapped him out for a carpet-munching relationship that no one cared for.

I have a feeling this new version will be something along the lines of girl power (with healthy doses of women fighting stereotypes/patriarchy/misogyny/etc, - but never treating men poorly nor being misandrist) and how Ted becomes better by getting in touch with his feminine side and bringing the other guys along with him.

That was so forced. They already had a gay storyline that sorta made sense, this one was like someone with pull said "not gay enough, fix it in the next episode" so they shoehorned it in.

How did she age 25 years in only 9? Life's great mysteries.

I heard they wanted him back but Phil Dunster had other commitments he couldn't get out of.

I gotta say that was really really good. Best opening episode to a season since the first season.

Rebecca with the BBQ sauce was great. Higgin was great as usual. Is there a gift shop I can support?

Also loved the end where it was clear Ted was keeping up with everyone back in Richmond. Roy got them the FA Cup and Jamie looks to have moved on to Barcelona or Real Madrid if I had to venture a guess. I also through the way they were going to get him over that was to offer Henry a spot at their academy but the way that he decided to go back was better.

Also really liked the throwback with Ted drinking out of a Kansas City Wiz mug along with a Matt Besler reference for the kid that subbed on for Henry.

Critics that have seen the first few episodes are saying it’s season one and two quality. I’m excited.

And Rebecca is so fine

Its weird that they couldn't put this out right after the world cup to capitalize on the weeks before football season starts. I guess with it coming out on Wednesdays (Tuesday nights) it doesn't really matter though

I thought the last season was boring, and I kind of lost track of what was even happening in the last season other than that every character was either gay or lesbian. (Somewhat miraculously they didn’t have a transgender character in the show though.)

Anyway, since this season is about women’s soccer, it actually would be pretty realistic if they made every character gay again.

2009 was only 9 years ago?

But, yeah, she filmed that as a teenager, and now she's 37. I'm sorry she she aged into full adulthood.

It had some weaker storylines but it wasnt "so fricking arse".

I'll check out the first few episodes of this season, but I'll be bailing after 2 if it's anything like season 3.

And I don't watch the most tv, and what I do watch is the stuff I'm quite certain will be good, or else I ditch it. Season 3 was bad. Keely's story was a disaster. The on and off again love triangle was the worst, all the way through the finale. The third to last episode is 70 minutes, with more than 30 of them being gross montages of people looking sad just past the camera. I think it's the worst epiosde of the series, by a mile. The penultimate episode with moms was the most nakedly emotionally manipulate hogwash I've sat through in years (75 goddamn minutes). And Jaimie has to have his out of nowhere freak out, too, just so he can have the big game moment. The finale was bearable, but worked so hard to make sure every character got their little closure moment. I don't care that the gay player's boyfriend walks onto the field, because it's been way too long since the writers cared to deal with the gay player. It's okay to not give every last character tgeir nice moment, especially when the comedy episode is at another 75 minutes. The game itself was pretty good.

So, what's bearable about the end of season 3 relies so completely on your previous emotional connection to the characters, not with anything that actually happens during the season. If the show is anything similar at the start of season 4, there will be cloying emotional moments with characters that haven't earned them yet.

Hopefully, I'll be wrong.

I will readily admit I didn’t like season 3 because of that. There was enough of the first season there that I finished it but basically wrote the show off. Additionally when I found out it was dealing with the women’s team I assumed it was going to be more of the same and wasn’t anticipating the return at all.

I happened to see on here last night that the new season was out and had 30min to kill so turned it on and it was surprisingly very very good.

For me season 1 is up there in my favorite seasons of television. Season 2 I felt like the first 2-3 episodes were like a caricature but then got into its stride again. 3 almost ruined it for me. It was so over the top with every hot button cause.

For now at least season 4 is a very nice return and not in the season 2 way.
