Ok, so i just started this series ( I know long overdue) just got to season 3 and I’m sure it’s been said before in other threads. But.. if there is ever a Call of Duty movie and if Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) isn’t Capt Price it would be tragic. I’ll come back later when I catch up to this season

This damned show has the weirdest ability to put some dust in the room. Episode starts off. Goofy Ted in the house. Takes me a little to get into the willing suspension of disbelief and sucked in the Ted Lasso world. Funny, funny. Lots of Ted being Ted with the oddball verbal humor. Lots of love letters and Easter eggs for Kansas City that I loved, since I know the town(s) very well. Supporting cast doing their things, but me just sort of thinking, "I love this show. So funny and charming. But how was I ever emotionally moved by it?" Cue final scene with texts from son and wife. Cut scene to me sitting on the couch and my wife saying, "Are you crying again?"

For the life of me, why is working in a grocery store? Not a high school football or soccer coach at the very least?! He took a college football team from a dumpster in one year to the NC in the next. He's working at a grocery store? WTF?!
Guess I'm looking into it way to hard.
Henry's soccer team and his coach. What exactly is the beef there? He benches Henry for a pass? Is the coach insecure about Ted being there?

I'm guessing that he wanted to do something that required minimal time/effort so he could focus on making up for lost time with his son. And that was the point Ted's mom made to him: he doesn't care about the job, so neither does anyone else. Ted fell into the fallacy that he would just sink more time and energy into his kid, but in the process, he lowered his own self-worth and personal motivation, thus actually diminishing his stature and worth as a parent (though he's clearly also still a great parent that anyone would be lucky to have). Even though we also see him supporting his kid in soccer and at school and through exposing him to mutually enjoyed music, they also make repeated referenes to Fortnite as their main shared activity, which is kind of sad. Rather than living his life an example for his kid to aspire to as an adult, he's trying to meet his kid where he's at in Fortnite, ironically reducing his status as a role model..

Listen I thought the exact same thing.
Here is my thoughts on why the first episode succeeded where season 3 failed and why I’m cautiously optimistic.
Some small spoilers
1. The most obvious and basic one is this focused on the already established characters rather than focusing on the women’s club.
2. (why I am hopeful) they made a huge point about how women’s clubs were failing and closing because they were unsuccessful and a drain on resources for the men’s team. And Rebecca sarcastically said we will try and do better and we will succeed because…reasons.
It wasn’t as if they were trying to pretend that women’s sports were something they arent. In fact the whole episode was that outside of Keely (who is portrayed as the naive optimist) they see it as a situation likely doomed to failure but they should at least try because they feel that it’s a cause they have personal appreciation for.
Season 3 the response to a women’s club folding would have been “we did the right thing but this countries misogynistic ways haven’t moved forward yet” this episodes tone was hey i know that this probably won’t work but I care about it so I’m going to regret not giving it a shot.

A better comparison would be from S1 of Ted Lasso to now.

So her early 20s? I don't know any women whose body composition hasn't radically changed from their early 20s to almost 40. Especially as you lose collagen in your face (unless you're getting injectables).

I understand that "Everything is woke and horrible" these days, but that first episode of Season 4 is as innocuous as The Andy Griffith Show. Seriously, you could drop Ted Lasso into Mayberry and he wouldn't miss a beat.
