probably a combo of feeling disappointed with his relationship with ted being one sided and how he probably thinks teds issues are getting in the way of a team that he cares more so the point that ted doesnt even know the rules like he does

Feels like this may be the other of the two episodes that were ordered after the fact.

Maybe he's seen it before and picked up Ted's pieces? They obviously have worked together forever. Maybe he is tiring of picking up the same pieces because Ted doesn't deal with them? But Ted is going to this time.

Her ex-husband is allowed to have someone younger in his life so why can't she?
Side note: I am not sure how long their relationship can last especially if Sam would like to have children at some point but for now just let them have fun.

At first Rebecca will be mortified but after speaking with Keeley in her office (Oi got yourself a younger man! You go you bad bitch) she will feel comfortable continuing with Sam.
Sam will have the inverse, instead of a pep talk his father will ask WTF he is doing. He will step back and realize this isn’t good for him.
Hope that isn’t true because it is predictable but let’s see what happens.

His life is splashed all over the tabloids so why cant hers?
I think thats one angle that will play out over the next few eps if they are in fact going the Empire Strikes Back Route. The British Press would eat that up (Sam being photographed outside her residence and them kissing in the doorway). Would make a nice way for Rupert to show up again as well.
The increased media scrutiny would lead to Nate or Beard either intentionally or accidentally spilling the beans on Ted. and on and on.
ironically enough, all the closesness Sam had before this would lead to him being exiled and the team would rally around Jamie given his growth this season. There is your "Rebels escaping at the end" bit.

You could tell during the dart game when he said he played every Sunday from age 10-16 there was something there.

Beard definitely knows about the panic attacks.
