I don't even think it makes good TV. You can barely hear them and they're just running around. They should not be allowed tribal conferences. Jeff used to just ask a few questions, let them talk a bit and them say it's time to vote. Much better TV, IMHO!
I completely agree, but I think the cat's out of the bag, so to speak, and it'll be tough to go backwards.

And I just LOVED how Xander played them! That was a top-10 Survivor move!
It was great. Even Deshawn, knowing it might end up being him voted out, thoguht it was a great move.
It was also really obvious. I'm surprised the Liana didn't see that coming a mile away, especially after all the theatrics pulling it out at tribal and claiming that Evvie was going to be safe no matter what.
I'm glad that Danny made it through without seemingly being mentioned as a target despite only 5 available people to vote for. That bodes will for him moving forward.
ETA: Sydney's exit interview is pretty candid and funny, but it's also very obvious that she thought extremely highly of herself.

I think they need to moving forward. Just state that as a part of tribal councils, you must remain seated.
Wife and I finally caught up last night and these are my thoughts so far:
Outside of the "Come on in, guys" and the Alliance, I don't think there has been as much "wokeness" as some people are making it sound.
Actually really like most of the gameplay changes they've made. I agree that there might be a few too many advantages out there right now, but with the compressed gameplay of 26 days, I think they wanted to be able to have a similar number of advantages that you would see in a 40 day season. It's been interesting to see how quickly the game moves because of that shortened timeframe.
Loved the fake out by Xander and can't believe he pulled it off. Smart move of them to give everything to Tiffany because the other group didn't expect that.
Favorites: Danny (likable, seems smart, staying under the radar for now), Naseer (love his enthusiasm though there's no way he wins), then Xander and Evvie as the next two. Liked Liana until Wednesday's episode.
Can't stand: Deshawn (whines a bit too much and thinks a little too highly of himself), Heather (feels like she might make the finale just because there's no reason to get rid of her), and Shan (felt like she manipulated JD, who was dumb to trust her, and think she's playing a dirty game so far. Hopefully someone takes her out soon, but feel like she goes pretty far just because of screen time).

Xander owned them hard.
All he did was make himself a target. The POC Alliance is going to keep picking off the others one by one. Xander, Heather, and Evvie. Naseer and the Philipina are happy to be on the majority side for now. Ricard can probably be fooled into thinking he’s in charge. Once the first three are gone, those three will be voted out.
No one is going to want to say on network TV that the POC are in an alliance and it must be destroyed. There were 6 Black contestants so I think this is playing out like CBS wanted.
In the previews for next week, no one from the POC alliance was named as a target. Naseer’s name came up but that’s it. I hope it’s all misdirection.

Especially because he (or his alliance) still have an idol.
The majority alliance is big enough to split votes on them though.
The small alliance needs to win individual immunity, hit on a roll of fate, and use the idol to pick off the majority.
Or they have to convince Erika, Heather, and Naseer to all switch because they are on the bottom.

Yes its skin color based but white people, asians, and hispanics also share a skin color but have never formed an alliance based solely on that.

It takes a lot of effort to make me dislike a hot chick on survivor and she very much made me forget she was hot with her vanity.
It was also telling that she must have been that way not just in confessionals but also around camp cuz she got voted out pretty much because she didn't have any friends.

The season where they had tribes by race and the following season were pretty similar.

No, just since 2000. Most years they have two seasons, I think 2000, 2020, and 2021 are the only years they just had a single season.

Cesternino's podcast exit interview
Can't recommend that podcast enough. It can be a bit over-the-top at times, but I appreciate the passion and time they put into making that podcast.

With all that in mind, what are your thoughts on the hourglass twist?
SYDNEY SEGAL: I mean, it's not even a twist — it's a lie. We're told one thing and then something else happens. And I think it achieved exactly what it intended to achieve. That challenge was meant for strong players to win. And then that hourglass twist was intended to get a strong player out of the game. And as I said a million times before, I'm the threat of threats, so that hourglass did me dirty. But congratulations, CBS, for achieving exactly what you wanted to achieve. And that was to get a very strong player out and keep a lamb in.
I agree this was over the top manipulation and really diminishes Survivor. Sydney although conceited was playing a smart game for what was dealt to her being on a dominant team. Congrats CBS for getting rid of what could have been a polarizing but interesting game player; we are stuck with the likes of Heather and Ericka to battle it out for the ride a long to the top 5.

Yeah, I thought they were playing that up too hard for them not to have something up their sleeve. And I was saying to my wife that they should give the idol to Tiffany. It does make Xander a bigger target, but he was a huge target already. It was good to see him put Liliana in her place. Something about her just rubs me the wrong way. Though she still has the numbers on her side so she'll probably get the last laugh.
I thought the hourglass thing was kind of ridiculous, but it certainly made for a highly entertaining episode. One of the most entertaining in its history.

but interesting game player
Yes, I hated the hourglass twist, but I'd hardly call Sydney interesting. Lots of other things come to mind. Narcissistic, boring, obsessed with herself and her looks that really weren't even great, conceited, and most of all, annoying. She could not leave my screen fast enough. I don't like seeing conceited narcissists on my TV.

Me too. But I didn't mind Liliana nearly as much till she met Shan. Now Shan makes some decent TV, but I really dislike her. I kind of hated that her backstory made me more sympathetic, because I disliked her so much!

I thought the same thing before reading the interview. After reading the interview she is still a conceited foul mouth but she was really in touch what was happening in the game but was the victim of the hour glass twist.
She was probably the first "game smart" person taken out in the game so far(qualifying because the brain surgeon was probably the smartest person in the cast).

She wasn't all that and at no time did I ever think she was a threat to win.

Sydney was the victim of a few twists converging at once, but her days were pretty numbered regardless. She really didn't have any strong connections with anyone, and was pretty annoying. Her name was being thrown out there before all the twists of the past 2 episodes.
