The dog took out the drones to make it an even fight. Once the drones were gone, he whooped Ultraman’s arse
Do y’all just want a 10 minute movie where a comic accurate powered Superman speed blitzes all the villains? Because that’s about how long of a movie that would be. He rarely struggled in any fight other than against a clone of himself + help with an advanced tactical and technological advanced team led by Luthor, all of which had been spent years learning and developing countermeasures to every one of Superman’s moves. They knew his moves before he would even make them.
I just assume now that anyone who calls this Supes “weak” either has the media literacy of an infant or just wants to watch a YouTube 10 minute highlight vid of Superman kicking arse

I think it’s more the personalities and set up of the characters that sways peoples opinions. Cavill was a Christ figure. Corenswet is not. He looks and acts younger. But that doesn’t mean anything if they were to fight.

seriously doubt that, at least as far as Man of Steel Superman is concerned. Snyder’s Superman in Justice League seemed like he was on an entirely different level than this Supe AND Man of Steel Superman.
Yes it was the justice league Superman I had in mind. He was too OP.

I wouldn’t say “younger” . Maybe naive is a better word but it shows both in dialogue and action that he gives way more of a shite about saving every life he can even if he loses a fight
I’m sure Cavill’s Superman would be the same way but we just didn’t see that as much…or done very well vs how badass he looks fighting

That is very good news. He was... terrific.

I don’t think I’ve seen Cavill in a role that makes me believe he could have pulled off Gunn Superman nearly as good as Corenswet. The non Snyder version of JL is probably the closest thing and he was stiff in that for the most part as well. Somebody told me he’s very different in Man from Uncle, but I’ve never seen it. He is stoic af in everything he does that I’ve seen though. Even his Wolverine cameo lol. He would seem out of place to me.
Not saying Cavill sucks or anything. Hes just good at different things. Looking bad arse on screen is one of those things.

The dog knocked UltraMan off of him first, then took out the drones.

Keep in mind this movie was written and entered pre-production before the Gaza War kicked off.
I know things can be tweaked plot wise during that period but that's a pretty substantial scene to suddenly toss in there for no other reason than saying frick you to Israel.

My wife and I saw it Sunday; he was my wife's favorite character. I legitimately enjoyed his screen time too.

I found this movie boring. I really wanted to like it, but I didn’t.

This is a long post so skip it if you're a TLDR type.
I find myself conflicted about this movie. I thought it was a great film for kids.
I absolutely loved Superman the Movie. I made my parents take me to the theater to see it 3 times, got the soundtrack double album, and watched it on an endless loop when it came to The Movie Channel when we first got cable later the next year.
As an adult I absolutely loved Man of Steel and still do. It was the adult realization of a child's memories. I appreciated the real world implications and the sci fi take on it.
This movie nailed the character of Superman. It was all the hope the aspiration about being a better person that the character stands for. What I didn't like was the goofy take on Hawkgirl, the hokeyness of the Kents, the CGI river of antimatter and baby Joey, and Lex Luthor crying when his plans were revealed. Guy Gardner and Mr Terrific were a nice addition to the mix.
The power of the imagery of the first Superman with how they portrayed the Kents and the solemn goodness and dignity they represented was an indelible mark. The scene of Pa's funeral and the fields of wheat was absolutely stunning. I think this shat on that a little bit and wished they would have had them a bit more resolutely stoic and penetrating, but that's just a personal taste issue. I think the amazing thing about the first Superman was the balance of cheese, humor, and solemnity that hit just right.
This one left that all up to Corenswet's portrayal and he did a great job of it. I wish Lois would have been a little more entangled with him and not off on a side mission, but once again that's personal taste.
One thing that Man of Steel did not do was to make it accessible to children, but it truly wasn't meant for them. As I've said before Man of Steel and the DCEU was not a comic book but a graphic novel, and I loved it. But I'm in my 50's and was ready for it because I grew up on Christopher Reeve, and Man of Steel was primed for my wants and needs, just like Kingdom Come was an evolution of a child's mind into the harsher realities of the modern world.
I think that this was a good film to kick start and new universe. I liked Krypto in it and I'm excited to see the take on Supergirl. This movie, even with my gripes, doesn't diminish my appreciation for Man of Steel or Superman the Movie- they're still there and I can watch and appreciate them anytime I want.
This was a needed push for kids to look back up in the sky and dream about being a hero.

I agree with you especially the Man of Steel being for the adult version of me that grew up with Reeve and then 89 Batman.
This Superman will inspire a new generation

Comic books are for kids. So, yes, it was a great movie for kids.
