think this movie's issues are going to be disliked by the normies but the hardcore Superman fans will like it. I just am not sure if there are enough of those to make this a huge hit
+1 this is just anecdotal, but everyone I know thinks this movie looks bad. I may have to watch it alone. No one cares about seeing it. How are your family and friends feeling about it?

Daily Beast has a very liberal political slant to what it likes in pop culture. Wouldn't be surprised if this Superman was a little too pro-American for them. That being said, their review is in the tweet below (for now).

overloaded as frick
I heard on Campea’s show that wasn’t the case. Apparently a lot of the side characters don’t play a big part in the movie

I don't even know who you are . Gif

What concerns me isn't the plot but just the sheer over abundance of campiness.

I mean it’s been pretty polarizing to many people just from the trailers. Some of us think it looks awful and others are lauding how great it looks.
I think the biggest issue with this film is going to be that they have too many characters and not enough development of the characters, which is going to ruin it. I know a Superman origin story is not really necessary, but when you introduce so many characters at once; it is almost always is bad.
It works for a group of characters like GOTG because they are all not main characters that most people grew up with. When you look at the Justice League movies, that was what messed them up. Trying to put too much into one film so everything got weak quality and depth.
We will see, it may surprise, but I am not thinking it will.

I think WB screwed that whole thing up a lot more than he did.
Exactly. The BvS Ultimate Edition and Snyder Cut were amazing.
Didn't Warner also try to tinker with TDKR and Nolan told them to frick off?

if this Superman was a little too pro-American
Patriotism isn't really in the cards

Oh don’t worry he’s not going to be patriotic. Get ready for “Truth, Justice and the human way” instead of “The American way”,

Not sure but it wouldn’t surprise me. WB maybe the most idiotic studio there is.

I saw a commercial for it on TNT earlier and it looked worse than their upcoming TV shows. It looked shockingly low quality.

I think this movie looks bad. My friends and family who've mentioned it think it looks good. My father wants to go see it. His interests are usually limited to "chick and a gun" DVD cases. He sees as decent amount and is usually disappointed. He expressed no concerns ahead of this, though I'm sure that disappointment is still a likely outcome. All my normie friends who have mentioned it are excited. My comic book friends are giddy about the Morrison All-Star connections.
Anecdotal has no value whatsoever.

Your reply failed on multiple levels.
Impressive.

Failed to do what?
I dont want to see the movie, but the people around me do. In what ways have I failed in this situation?

What the 13 year old boys think is the true review of a superhero movie.

Your response, dingus. Madking was clearly speaking of James Gunn's Superman and how he won't be patriotic.
How don't you follow ?
"Truth, Justice and the American way" is the iconic phrase describing what Superman stands for that's known world over for almost 100 years.
THE AMERICAN WAY.
Raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent, in damn near the heart of America...
It's clear that James Gunn has NOT cracked the Superman code.

It must be great. I’m very encouraged

Outside of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn's movies suck.
