After seeing this thread, I fired up the Hobo and watched. It was not a good movie.

It was ok. Was it just me or were the special effects horrible? Movies now look so much worse in the cgi department. The Snyder ones looked way better. But I had some decent fun with this. It’s a better movie than BvS or Justice league I think.

Movie just wasn’t very good. Don’t think a single character in the movie had a personality or maturity level older than a 13 year old

Im with you. James Gunn delivers one dimensional characters without any real emotional depth.. was entertaining but calling anything more than borders on delusional

I liked the leads...Corenswet, Brosnahan and Hoult were well cast. And Mr Terrifics action scene was fun. But I agree with you that some of the CGI was awful. The portal scene with metamorpho"s baby was really bad.

I think we can have a fun Superman movie with all these cool characters...and have a good story. I agree with others Mr Terrific and Green Lantern were great. I just cant wrap my mind around professional writers making this story

I’m rewatching it right now. It gets worse on second viewing

I didn’t hate it when I saw it in the theatres - but I’m a Superman fan and not really objective.

I will say . . . you have a point. It was not nearly as good as the first viewing. I’m thinking my fandom made it better than it is.

Superman just didn’t work as well in the modern day as the other superhero movies, not sure why.

Never Liked superman growing up. Liked the movie. We could use more wholesomeness in film

It still amazes me that they can’t figure out a CGI dog. Always looks like a cartoon in every movie where they try.

CGI cats and other animals they have figured out, but a dog or wolf just never works.

I think it has something to do with trying to give it extra expression that just converts a dog’s face to something unnatural.

Watched it last night. Was pretty meh to be honest. Didn’t really seem like much of anything was happening. Not much story telling besides “lex doesn’t like Superman”. There was pretty much zero character development or background story to anybody.

Seems like it would be better off as an episode of small vile than a whole movie.

Superman is too overpowered and it seems like ever story of his is city or world being destroyed...which I think are lazy tropes. Like how many times in Marvel...DC..etc can we destroy the big city.

I didn’t think it was bad, but I’m just over the comic book movies. I wish Hollywood would take about a 5-7 year break on suphero movies.

All the Supe's fanboys keep saying, "You have to put him in a situation where he has to make a choice!"* Snyder makes him make a save mom/save Earth choice in BvS. Fanboys? "We don't like it"

*Tacitly admitting he's way OP and, therefore a boring character

You're referring to stakes, which can be tough in a superman story.

I've never seen anyone complain about the stakes/choice in Man of Steel. That was not the problem.

It was good. Not great, but good.

The parents were good. Even the translation bits are understandable, with upbringing being able to have an effect on a child.

It was good. And in the time we are all living through, that is pretty good.
