Agreed.
Also thought Crypto was terribly done. As someone who didn't know these characters ahead of time, like most of the world, I immediately thought "this movie would've been better without them".

I swear they made her character this way thinking it would draw a ton of men in. But it’s like when a guy friend group has one girl who tries to be like “one of the boys” and they all look at her like a retard and roll their eyes.

Old school DC guy here. Krypto has been around since the 1950s. I can remember whole storylines revolving around him in the 70s.
That being said, those were very rare. The dog was an extremely fringe character. Just as Ace, the Bat-Hound was for Batman.

Women (aka my wife) is much more likely to want to see Thor in the bathtub scene with his shirt off than anything Superwoman related. She was all in on every movie with Thor in it after that scene. Like it or not Holywood just needs to admit both men and women are pretty basic in what they like to see on the big screen. They think Brad Pitt is a superstar because of his incredible acting skills?

Gunn is the problem. His style and ego is a terrible fit for all of this. This universe is doomed until he is completely out of the picture.

Yeah
It amounts to a completely unfalsifiable way of looking at the world It's another contingent of just useless rage immune to reason.
If it doesn't suck people will want to see it. You put the movie in the hands of a person who hadn't earned it and doesn't know how to make a compelling story. Even when there are dozens of decent Supergirl stories to choose from.
The lack of accountability will likely be both breathtaking and completely unsurprising

Variety has been impressive lately, an actual analysis of its failings rather than muh misogyny like most other outlets do with these things

This isn't REALLY about something made for men and made for women.
One of these two things is true:
1) They like money. So they want to take something that has an established fanbase, that is fantastical and fun and easy to build - that's kind of what comic books are/represent - and believe that by changing that thing they will both keep the old audience and draw in new fans.

2) They don't like tradition/the patriarchy/takle your pick. Superhero movies are kind of now an established and relevant vehicle for entertainment, but they espouse the wrong values, and by changing them, they can attract a new audience, influence the original audience, and change the meaning behind this shared cultural thing. They think they can make money on the backend because they will create new kind of cultured people and new fans are a by-product.
Some folks in here will say, "They just want to make a Supergirl movie," and I just don't think that's true when you end up gutting it's meaning/intention. And that goes for all of these modern "adaptations."

Milly Alcock, on the other hand, is a rather unfortunate looking young lady who clearly has a huge chip on her shoulder because of it. On top of which, she apparently seemed to embrace the rather bold strategy of “controversy sells”, judging from her comments. And this makes her unlikeable. I also think the trades are getting payback. Gunn's called them out a lot since he took over. This is why I've been saying he needs to stop talking. It comes back to haunt him.

Harloff and Rocha had a good long discussion about everything here. They basically think they need to cancel everything, Teen Titans, Deathstroke and Bane etc, and focus on Batman and Wonder Woman movies to set a foundation
