I'm reading the graphic novel now and just got to the part with Comet. It's gorgeous artwork.

From what I've heard, the movie is none of that.

And the message at the end is the OPPOSITE of what the novel conveyed. And makes no damn sense.

WTF happened to Gunn? The first GOTG was perfect. My second favorite Marvel movie.

Now he's a woke chowderhead.

I think if a girl-led superhero movie has a strong/good/serious villain (like Wonder Woman) then it can work. When they didn’t have that, like with Wonder Woman 1984, we saw how that ended up. The first one also had Chris Pine as a soldier sidekick which probably helped as well.

I respect Snarky Jay's reviews and she eviscerates this movie.

Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker have as well.

Gunn is fine playing with the B and C list characters most people aren't really familiar with. No one is overly attached to them so do what you want.

I thought superman was ok, not great. It also didn't really feel like an event movie though, just something that came and went. Kind of forgettable

not a deal breaker for me but still didn't care for changing the parents' intentions for sending him here. It better pay off at some point, otherwise it was tinkering with the ethos for no reason.

'Supergirl' Braces for $100 Million Loss: What DC Studios Should Learn From Its Box Office Bomb

They do not want to hear the truth. What they need to do? Firstly, a fairly attractive actress to play this part would have helped. Alcock was ok, not everyone's cup of tea, but good enough. But the next thing is to make sure that actress doesn't alienate half of your target audience with political and woke statement before the movie even comes out Tell them to stay off of social media and train them to answer the questions when it is ultimately asked by the ridiculous media outlets.

That would be a strong start.

Secondly, take a fan favorite story from the comics and tell it as it is written in the comics. And make sure the villain compelling.

The marketing does the rest.

There’s no payoff unfortunately. I guess the payoff is Superman is just good because of himself…which was always the case anyway.

1. Make a movie “targeting Gen Z women”

2. 60% of your audience is men, Gen Z women don’t show up

3. Blame… men?

Do what?

Some industry insiders who spoke to TheWrap say the problems run deeper than one underperforming film. “All this is, is a Gunn and Safran production deal,” one DC insider said of DC Films’ current trajectory. “It’s not a brand. Announcing a universe was dumb. DC created an expectation and now you have delivered one Superman movie.”

Should have made it a Lobo movie and made supergirl a supporting role.

I thought the way they introduced her in Superman was terrible. She's drunk, stumbling around, then calls him a bitch. I thought that scene was freaking cringe

Funny enough, THAT probably would’ve gotten more female audience members than Supergirl. The first Aquaman was 52% women.
