Yeah, it's a mistake going with Supergirl.

It's the same mistake they made with the Snyderverse.

There, they wanted us to jump in to the middle of a story already in progress.

Here, they want us to jump in to movies about side characters before we get this universe's Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Robin, Nightwing, Superboy. Seriously, the list of characters more important than Supergirl is VERY long.

People try to argue with me about ancillary revenues lol
Those can be hinky, though

Some pay WB, and some are paid by WB

Some split profits, some pay for license and keep profits

It is so hard to say

I assume the numbers in the article I read are finessed

But maybe they can break even with that and BO

I don't disagree with you, but I would argue that Robin, Nightwing, and Superboy are all side characters as well (unless your goal is a Teen Titans movie before introducing Supergirl)

It'll lose money, no doubt. I'm just saying that there's more than just box office for these big blockbusters

If it can manage $100 million clean from ancillary, which I am not sure they will

And get $150ish million (also unlikely) in domestic BO by the end of the run

I think they could break even once streaming licenses come in

They have done almost no marketing outside social media, that I've seen

I don't disagree. I just think they're much more "known" by the average individual than Supergirl. Especially Robin and Superboy. And have a lot more history to pull from.

Because James Gunn knows he can make the side characters quirky and rebellious. That’s the only thing he knows how to do other than injecting himself into marketing.

Putting that a-hole in charge of the DCU will prove to be a huge mistake.

Out of the theater reactions are out. Every one I've seen has said the villains are very bad and the movie is about as mediocre as you can get. Not going to waste money on a ticket for this one

- “profoundly awful, Milly miscast”
- “heroic ideals completely missing”
- “Double down on Kal-El being sent to earth to conquer it” with the child bride stuff that was mentioned in Superman

Gunn is an absolute moron

He specifically said he isn’t going to make something without a great script. And made a point about casting the right actors. He failed at both here.

I knew this shite was going off the rails with the peacemaker “nazi” retardism. Warnings were there in Superman with the conquering earth message from Jor-El

X reactions are hating it

The main actress saying this movie isn’t for “Christian dads” is going to do this movie wonders

For all of the discussion about actors and casting the worst choice was mixing Gunn with Superman

The child bride thing in Superman and now Supergirl is throwing me off. Is this some sort of commentary on why he was cancelled that he’s shoehorning in?

Makes me wonder

She’s also making comments about how proud she is that Supergirl is a LGBTQ icon (she’s not).

I said it in the other thread: this young lady couldn’t be doing a better job of sabotaging this film if she were making a concerted effort to do so.

Just as no one gives a frick about Hawkgirl and Terrific yet Gunn insisted on shoving those frickheads down our throats while turning the only decent one (Green Lantern) into Lloyd Christmas.

This movie will get lots of critic love for no other reason than an outspoken female lead and nerd reviewers knighting for it and wanting to keep DC access.

To be fair it was comic accurate for that particular lantern. I liked Terrific

Don’t like the Gunn leather costumes much

She's as dumb as she looks. I just watched an interview of her complimenting the director for always being physically on set. Uhhhh... That's like complimenting a cashier for always running a register.

Terrific was the best character in Superman
