Yeah a couple weeks ago when he was listening to Takeover in the limo it reminded me of the first scene of the show.
It was almost like a reset of his character.

I 100% agree with this take.

The "we don't feel safe in the city" made me laugh. What Hollywood BS. As if New York was ever safe.
Oh but an election was the tipping point.

The thing with Roman is the deal with Menken was really bad. Menken was never breaking the sale. He played Roman and will distance himself away now. Roman breaking down was bad but he was toast the second he engaged in that deal. I think everyone loses and maybe the board or a new board entirely is empowered. They get the money and thats it. Romans breakdown maybe didnt have anything to do with the funeral. He was told about Shiv maneuvering with Menken and realized he was cooked.

A brief video of Greg in the finale has leaked:
I don't see it happening. He's been a goof in every scene even the ones that didn't involve the people in power. Like with his girlfriend or when firing Logan's side piece.

Relying on Menken to break up the sale always seemed kind of far fetched given the timing IMO. We’re in November (and this season has covered about two week’s worth of time at the most). He’s going to be challenged for the Presidency like Gore vs Bush. There’s no guarantee he’s even going to have the power to stop the deal in January and Mattson has been pushing to get the deal done ASAP.

Gotta disagree. He’s been throwing out his “pre-grieved” bullshite all along and becoming more erratic. And then when it came time to “bury” his Dad, he lost it. That’s not an uncommon thing in grief, particularly in someone trying to avoid coping with death.

I kind of think Kendall ends up dead
I hope thats not the case, that would be some GOT level subvert your expectations bullshite. I hope its Kendall, but I think Tom is looking like the dark horse because..
1. No way does Mencken allow Shiv to be the new CEO and I think Mattson has been using her this whole time.
2. Shiv has been downright nasty to Tom and he finally gets his revenge as being promoted to the guy at the top in the one spot that she has always coveted.

At first I thought that scene didn't seem necessary. It felt like it was just kind of stuck in there then it was back to business, but maybe that was symbolic of Kendall's final transformation into Logan. He had talked about being a bad father, then he flipped out on the sidewalk threatening to take Rava to court, but after that he just went back to his takeover plans. Logan tried to be a father, couldn't do it, then just sunk himself into business. Maybe that's what Ken was doing in that scene

I’ve said this before and someone else made the point earlier-Tom is the only one who has done any real “work” throughout the course of this show. Despite his exterior and what they explicitly show us there have been allusions to how successful he has been in his role at ATN.
In season 3 they be talks about how he has an upcoming profile in Forbes based on the “turnaround at ATN”. Shivs response is oh gonna talk about how you “opened up the bigot spigot to full blast”
They portray Mencken as some crazed lunatic but it’s also been made explicit that ATN has been his primary backer and ally and they essentially get him elected as President and notably it was brought up how he brought along a younger demographic.
All this while clearly being willing to tow the line of people above him make him the logical choice.
Roman is clearly off the table.
Shiv has absolutely zero real experience
Kendall for the past three years has been erratic and oscillated between trying to kill waystar or being a robot for his dad.
IF it’s any of them the only choice from a logic standpoint that satisfies the board, Mencken, and Mattson is Tom.

i am no writer so whatever but i think it is two ways.
godfather 2 ending where Ken "wins" but is left with no family.
Satire funnier ending, the Board votes in favor of the deal, Tom "wins" and the kids make billions on the deal but aren't happy because they lost the company.

Shiv pretty much is gonna be the reason her husband becomes CEO.
I think Tom may have been accidentally thrust into the future CEO role when he was forced to call the election. I think he'll ironically be rewarded by the pres-elect for that unintended promotion.

Also remember at the party, Tom's big issue was the running joke about how he's about to be unemployed. A joke parroted by Shiv. It would seem like justice in a way for Tom to then get the position Shiv was gunning for.

I remembered during their fight on the balcony Tom talked about how selfish Shiv was. Then in this episode she’s drinking while pregnant. Pretty fricked up!

Anything after that terrible brother speech would have been a victory lap.
I really disagree with this. Most of the audience at the funeral didn't care much for Logan. It's not like he was loved. He was respected, but only because he was rich and powerful. If he were less of either, no one would give a damn. I think it was important to accept that the stuff his brother said was true and to show how even with his faults, he made his mark on the world. I think the thought of his father in the casket and the stuff Ewan said were just too much. Roman was planning to say a lot of really good shite about Logan and just couldn't say it after Ewan.

I don't see how GoJo would be in a position to follow through with their purchase of Waystar. Initially the purchase was going to be a merger of equals. GoJo is a publicly traded company that just announced they have misrepresented their number of users, by a big number apparently. That alone would lead to investigations in the US and Europe into possible fraud. Their stock price would take a pretty big dip and then again when the investigations start.
Hopefully we aren't supposed to believe that leaking those numbers on a big news day would make that situation go away.

That would be awesome
Greg giving a smirk at the Roy kids while addressing an audience of shareholders as the new American CEO would be an awesome ending.
