I was really intrigued by this film.

Written by the Cohens and directed by Cloony, this looked like it was gonna be good.

a lot of people are shitting on it.

Was anyone else curious about this film?

I saw the trailer this weekend and was curious. I will still probably check it out as a rental

Well, even some of the more liberal critics I listen to have complained it's extremely preachy and pretentious. It's supposed to show how white people dont care about black people. The trailers show you all the Matt Daemon and Oscar Issac but the movie is supposed to be much more about "what's hidde" in white suburbia.

Supposedly Oscar Issacs is great though.

For some reason this movie just looked like it was going to tank critically and probably financially to me. Last few things Joel and Ethan have been attached to have been underwhelming.

Tucker Carlson is right

Politics kills art. Comedians aren’t funny, movies aren’t good...if you’re wrapped up in political hysteria, your creativity suffers

Also bad timing for Hollywood to preach about how fricked up middle America is with the Weinstein shite hitting the fan

I think Clooney was able to get away with it when he was in Syriana and Michael Clayton. Those are 2 very high quality movie.s

Hail, Caesar! was bad except for Alden Ehrenreich and Ralph Fiennes... but Bridge of Spies was great and Unbroken was pretty good. Inside Llewyn Davis is one of my favorite films.

Hail Caesar frustrated me because it had so many parts of a great movie, but it just completely failed to come together.

I agree somewhat but I can find humor in things I dont agree with. I not anti gun but I think Jim Jeffries' routine on gun control is hilarious and I appreciate his prospective. Art is so subjective and the appreciation of it relative that its hard to say what stifles it. I do love how this season's AHS seems to be taking aim at both sides of politics.

I hated this movie. Absolutely loathed it. Every copy should be burned and the ashes should be buried deep beneath the earth. Bridge of Spies was solid. Unbroken was underwhelming, IMO. I liked Inside Llewyn Davis. I just hold those two to a hire standard than most people. They've got several all-timers in their filmography.

A lot of people are saying it's tone deaf. When doing a cohen movie, it's hard to find the right tone between comedy, mystery, drama, thriller. It's not easy to do and it looks like Clooney couldn't get it right.
