Wtf, is that really a feature?

It stopped working. But for a while there was a completely blacked out line across the screen where you couldn't see behind the black line unless you hovered over it and then it revealed it.
My hidden spoiler was "your mom is a hoe" but it's not hiding the message anymore.

Hard to argue with much of that..
It's definitely her go to word. The kids cussing was sort of comical early on but it's just annoying and forced now. But even from season one it would get on my nerves. You'd have 12 year old middle schoolers just constantly dropping a "shite shite shite! Damnit mom!" line and the mom would just be line "Dustin, honey, don't say that." This was the 80's, any 12 year old cussing like that around their parent would have got their arse beat. Not they just say God damnit every other sentence. Pretty annoying.
i don't think anyone really understands but I read up on it a good bit after and here's my best go at it...
Max is still in a coma in the hospital but Vecna also has her in some form of mental prison (I see some people calling it his "mindscape") as well that is keeping her from waking up. She is working her way out of it because they have the Running Up That Hill song playing pretty much all the time but right there when Max was about to escape the mental prison and presumably would have woken up in real life, the music stopped when Lucas left so it closed up the exit for her.
Holly was kidnapped and actually taken to the upside down but Vecna also has her mind in the metal prison. So even though Max is in the right side up and Holly is in the upside down, their minds are in the same place. While Max was working her way out of there she runs into Holly and tries to help her.
Turns out the cave is one area that Vecna can't reach them. This is presumably some memory of Henry's/Vecna/Mr. Whatsit that he cannot acces or maybe a bad memory that he doesn't want to recall. Because the mental prison Vecna has them in is based on Henry's memories. Now they are working on a plan together to get out of his mind prison.
At least that's what I think

I should've counted the number of times Erica said "dipshit." That annoyed me more than most things for some reason (because I hate her ).

I completely don't understand exactly where Holly is or how Max is there. Even her explanation didn't make much sense to me. I assume they are behind the gross wall in the UD?

Just finished episode 4 last night
- Not bad but hope they can finish the season/story off strong.
- As other posters said I couldnt understand a broken wine bottle doing damage to the demogorgon but not M16's and a 50 cal machine gun.
- Another poster mentioned this but I did think Max looked like CGI when she appeared at the end of episode 3 haha.
-- Robin's character has gotten kind of annoying and why do they make her look almost androgynous compared to the previous seasons?
- The last scene was pretty cool watching the main cast run from the monsters in the midst of the battle.
- The violence and gore has gone up an insane amount from the first season. The scene when vecna just skullcrushes that guy with his claw hand was wild.

Just finished episode 1. Great start to season 5. Nothing groundbreaking. It's feels like season 1 again back in Hawkins with the gang. Holly was always a underrated character and you just knew after season 1 with her seeing the Demogorgon first it would come full circle. Everyone saying that she's so old is wild. She was 11 was she filmed season 5 and even in season 4 she wasn't a kid anymore. Great actress.
Still sucks eddie is gone. This is a different dustin we have seen from the first 4 seasons. Him and steve's bromance needs to come back. I don't mind the lesbian scenes with molly ringwald and mini uma thurman. We just don't need any gay Will stuff.
The fat new kid is so 80's bully style.
I love Mrs Wheeler and Ted Wheeler. They are the perfect 80's parents.
Did yall know ted wheller got his masters at LSU and teaches classes at LSU ?
Still one of the best tv show theme songs. I never skip it when it plays at the beginning.

The actress being older is not the point. 14 year old actresses play 11 year olds all the time. The gripe is that they progressed a characters age numerous years while everyone else progressed normally. Holly was 3 when the show started. She should be 8-8.5 in the shows actual timeline. All the kids would be out of high school by the time Holly was this age.
Hollys story was one of the better ones to me in Vol 1 so I don’t care too much, but the age complaint is certainly valid and a plot hole they are just taking and running with. Nothing wild about pointing out an error the writers want you to ignore.

Short and sweet but it is perfect.

Before social media no one would have noticed or complained about holly. She’s the perfect age for this show as a secondary character. The look from
season 4 to season 5 holly is normal and I would have never noticed unless people consistently bitching on the Internet.
A plot hole and error in writing is what the final season of game of thrones was or lost final season and finale or Dexter final season and finale or how I met your mother finale. This is none of those things even remotely.

Never said she wasn’t. Just doesn’t make sense that she is the perfect age.

Biggest take away was Eddie's headstone. Dates were 1966-1986. The dude was fricking 20 years old in high school still, lol.

Each episode improves on the next. The first 10 minutes of episode 2 was fantastic. Mr Whatsit is Henry!!!
Some back to the future references
Sarah Conner in season 5!
Love all the 80's references in episode 3. The story has consistently been great.
They have knocked it out of the park with casting every season. This season is no different.
Episode 3 was pure cinema and so much fun. It felt like a greatest hits of Season 1. The great Frank Darabont directed it. Home alone inspired ending
Enjoyed the hell out of this episode. Max is back. LFG
Ready for episode 4 now

I kinda hate that The First Shadow ruins the big plot reveal on where all of this originates? Like yeah, we’ll see what happens with our cast and see who lives and who dies but I hate that the backstory got spoiled. In something that seemingly could have just as easily came out after S5 was completely released?

It’s a different actress in season 5 vs seasons 1-4, how would you not have noticed??
The issue is that now it appears the writers are just winging it instead of having a cohesive story planned out. If not then why not have Holly a little older when the show started?

She was on a total of like 2 scenes in season 4
Plus if yall would do any research you would know the price twins quit acting plus holly was needed for a larger role this season. This was a smooth transition and she's stole the show in season 5 thru the first 3 episodes.

What part of this show so far shows that the writers are winging it? You're just complaining to complain.
They pretty much foreshadowed this holly story since the first season when she saw the demogorgon in the house after will was taken.

You don't have to worry about her.. She's a straight up Navy Seal at this point.
Master military planner and all, nothing is killing her.
The only two I'd be disappointed seeing die, but feel its most likely to occur are Steve and Hopper.. Take any of the others, well maybe not Murray.

I don't care who dies, as long as some of the main characters do. One of my biggest gripes about the show is that none of the main characters are never in mortal danger that pays off. Literally everyone is saved at the last minute by someone or something. Which is fine for the most part, but once you realize there are no real stakes for the characters, it removes me from things a bit because I know there's no chance someone bites it.
I mean, even having one of Mike's parents die this first part of the season could have driven home how serious some of this shite is. And they were straight up attacked by a demigorgan. But nah, both are fine. Out side of what, Bob, Billy, and Eddie...nobody important has died...and neither of them were really main characters anyway and died within the same season they were introduced, right? Maybe Billy bled into two seasons?
Will
Mike
Dustin
Lucas
Steve
Nancy
Jonathan
Hopper
Eleven
Joyce
Max
Murray (arguably not a main character)
not a single one of them has remotely touched death, despite being in life-threatening situations almost constantly. After a while, that becomes tiresome and boring for me.
It's one thing shows like GoT did so well. Anybody could go at any minute, no matter how important the character was. Makes for great TV.

Yes, he was Seasons 2+3

If nobody dies in the end, it will def tarnish the series. Like you said, one of the main 10 characters who have been there from the start has to die

Hopper should have died at the end of S3(?) with the explosion. He's one of my favorites but he should have died.
Max should have died after Vecna broke all of her limbs. She wasn't a favorite of mine but I actually teared up a bit on that scene because it was so well done and I thought she was dead. Nope.
The Wheelers should have died without question. They haven't even shown the dad since he's been attacked so why even save him?
The Duffers are like the complete opposite of George RR Martin, like everyone is safe with them. Most stories can't get away with killing main characters like GoT but it would be nice for these characters to stop surviving deadly attacks and explosions.
I do expect one main character to die though so it can be a talking point for the show. Steve and Hopper seem like the obvious choices.
I feel like we know these aren't going to die:
Lucas
Holly
Will
Robin
Eleven
Mike
Max
Dustin
Nancy
Steve, Hop, Jonathan, and Joyce seem like the ones that could be killed.
