Took my time on this one. Was planning to stretch it out over a few more days, but decided to just rip the band aid off and be done with it.
Biggest gripe first, - Demogorgon's are OP in the final scene. I mean, c'mon, that was ridiculous. Tipsy Karen with a busted wine bottle did more damage on a Demo than a base full of soldiers (shooting in a circle, mind you) with automatic guns? * Mounted high cal. machine guns and flame throwers?
Oh, and THEN Vecna, aka Henry, aka Mr. Whatsit, aka Evil Groot, aka Voldermort... (because clearly, Will is Harry Potter. Looks like him, has a spot that tingles when the bad guy's around...) shows up. Damn near invincible, until the story needs him NOT to be.
Max looks all grown up and it's weird. I mean, is her corporeal consciousness wearing makeup or something? Seems she blew right through that awkward phase of early teens tomboy right into young woman in a blink of an eye. Just another cautionary tale when working with kids at that age and taking 3 years or whatever between seasons.

Not really a fan so far - lots happening but nothing really happening
The beginning with the walkie talkie ops was incredibly cringy and they did a terrible job explaining the point of it all - very suspension of disbelief with the "quarantine"
So much terrible acting, especially MBB
Dustin is really annoying but I guess tracks with his character arc after Eddie
Will actually having something to do was good, he's been useless for 4 seasons
The Max Holly arc was pretty good
Erica is the worst character ever and needs to STFU, so aggravating
None of it really did much for me and Ep 4 was the worst of the bunch until the Vecna reveal which was pretty badass

This has bothered me as well; however, bladed weapons have been more effective in other instances as well (Russian prison camp).

Sure, I get it. Glass & blades are super slicey. But c 'mon... the Demos were getting a blizzard of bullets, not phased one damn bit. And with that much lead flying around, NO ONE caught any strays? Most everyone would be hit with friendly fire. And this is the military? They didn't have any strategy or formation they could fall into rather than everyone wildly shooting?
And while we're on that stuff, Vecna goes all Magneto and pulls the pins on a couple of soldier's grenades, THEN yeets them to some fuel tanks, and they're not immediately blown to shreds? They survive the fragging, then the massive explosion, and remain intact long enough to still be screaming in agony as they burn alive.

I don't think that was them screaming and flailing on the ground. I think that was Sullivan, aka the military guy from Season 4 - it's hard to see but I think the guy screaming on the ground has that vest that he was wearing (just to differentiate him from the other soldiers). The problem is you can't see it very well because it's about as dark as the battle outside Winterfell in that scene.

20 cal? No wonder they didn’t do any damage to the monsters.

At one point they were in a perfect circle formation shooting at a monster in the middle. Everyone knows that's a great strategy, zero chance for friendly fire hits

How many times do they have her saying "dipshit?"

I laughed at that. Shooting fully auto in a circle and 0 collateral damage, yeah ok...
But you have to suspend belief to enjoy a lot of shows.

So, Will is gay? And that had to make that an essential plot point to unlock his powers?

They needed to make him gay before they could give him his powers because of *reasons.*

Yep! It was the inverted circling of the wagons tactic. Peak military strategy on display

Fixed. Sorta, but you get the idea.

I guess the downvoters are not tired of gay being injected into every form of consumable media.

For a second I thought they were gonna flashback to Henry being gay, tying his interest to Will.
Will having a crush on Mike was a really weird thing to add to the show

It’s Netflix. They have to have “representation” in everything.

Any positives, or just all gripes?
Odd I thought of the bunch, Max probably looked the least grown up. Definitely still had a high schooler look to me.
Demogorgon just getting assaulted by 10 different guns at one time and not even blinking was pretty ridiculous though. Demogorgons kill with ease and in the blink of an eye but when it comes to the main cast they are slow moving and can be stopped with a baseball bat.
Just looked on IMDb and EP4 is now the top rated episode of the series so far.

For me, the gripes are minor. I enjoyed the first 4 episodes and am anxious to see the rest. The Will and Robin stuff doesn't really bother me at all. There are often times when I find myself saying "that's not plausible" or "that doesn't make any sense." But I am watching a show about interdimensional monsters and telekinetic children.
Is it perfect? No. Am I entertained by it? Thoroughly.

just finished the new episodes last night.
it appears that Vecna can walk from the upside down right into the real world now. However, last season, it appeared that he had to do everything remotely. Is there a reason for this?

Product of his opening the gate at end of Season 4?
