Social media has really destroyed yall from enjoying anything anymore. Season 4 not only was one of the best if not better than season 1 but one of the best seasons ever of a show. The ratings were thru the roof for season 4. It had 2 of the best episodes in the entire series.
Not on social media champ. Maybe you should take some of your own advice and take a break from it bc You seem way too attached to this. It’s a show dude not everyone is going to like it and that’s ok. You getting all annoyed bc people don’t feel the same way as you is pretty comical.
Show had the perfect climax in the third season and should’ve ended there. When shows/movies start bringing back main characters who supposedly died that’s just lazy writing. Between that and the gay shite, the lover quarrels, super long dialogues and the people playing teenagers all looking like they’re 25/30, Shows gone down hill. Let’s wrap it up and move on please.
ETA: Also ratings are like preseason CFB polls they mean absolutely nothing

Was I just imagining it, or didn’t they release the runtimes of the volume 2 episodes a few weeks ago and they were much longer?
Think its always been what it is, but I remember a few months back it was floated that every episode was over 90 minutes, which ended up being false.
Amazing that the episodes are as long as they are and we are still limping towards getting a lot of answers/wrap up. The unnecessary dialogue is killing this thing.

Other than just losing their minds on the gay stuff (which I don’t begrudge, it was stupid virtue signaling but not unrelated to the plot point of Vecna exploiting you,) it’s peak stranger things and has been for 3 seasons. If you’re complaining about this season, you should a bailed on S2.
I agree with this. I do think a lot of the charm from seasons 1-3 was lost in season 4-5. It feels like the stakes got too big for what the show was supposed to be. But that’s my major complaint outside of the virtue signaling scenes

This board was mostly of the opinion that season 4 was much improved over season 3. MTV board generally thought season 3 got stale or slow. The board loved Eddie in season 4 (as did all audiences). Notice everyone still hoping Eddie comes back in the finale. Idk why everyone has some sudden change of opinion

Exactly. It went from kids figuring out their friend’s disappearance, to them taking on the military.
It’s Like how fast and furious went from Paul walker and vin diesel street racing to ludachris going into space. Just dumb.

They play fast and loose with the “it’s the 80s” when it’s convenient
“Everyone was homophobic in the 80s so coming out was a big deal”
“These kids in a quarantine Indiana also listen to an obscure Texas punk band that won’t be famous until the 90s, the butthole surfers”

Erica is a horrific actor whose sassy black girl shtick was humorous as a child..
No....no, it wasn't. Ever. She has been the worst character by far ever since her introduction into the show, and is consistently the worst character onscreen in any scene she is in. I know she won't die, but with as much as I've complained about main characters never dying and plot armor and all that, if they literally only kill off Erica and nobody else, I will rejoice with glee.

Amazing that this little town has produced:
Nancy - deadly from medium range with an automatic rifle
Erica - Smartest science kid in her science class -- even smarter than Dustin and the teacher. Probably a grandchild of one of the black science ladies who got us to the moon
Karen Wheeler - Wine bottle assassin.. MacGyver with an O2 tank and a commercial dryer
Robin - successful therapist and relationship counselor, also runs tech support and maintenance for a 50k watt radio tower.
Max and Holly - Upside-down tag team duo of Survivorman and Sherlock Holmes
11 - Future olympic high jump champion
This town is a hotbed of glass ceiling breakers!

Why do they keep referring to Henry as Vecna when they know he's Henry?
It is not as though he is a masked superhero whose identity is unknown.

I remember this infographic that was floating around. I knew this one was fake.
I just remember looking at the episode list a couple of weeks ago on IMDB and it was showing them much longer. Like 1hr45min episodes. Obviously that was wrong. I was just wondering if maybe a bunch of stuff got cut.

I do think it’s kind of an odd trap people fall into where they insist someone dies for it to be a good ending, you can have a good ending that lacks death
This season isn’t awful but for as much time as they’ve had it’s odd how little we’ve advanced this season
Like many things I think ST was meant to be 3 seasons tops but since it became wildly successful and Netflix’s need for a valuable IP things have been stretched out. I would guess if they had their way, this season would have been maybe 4 hours total. There’s just been so much worthless filler

I saw something that said Netflix pushed some cuts to make sure they didn’t get the MA TV rating to keep it youth friendly.

Based on my small-town experience as a highschooler (class of '87) NO ONE "came out" as gay in the 80s. They simply coexisted with the rest of us. No one ever tried to beat them up, no one ever tried to pick on them or ostracize them. They did their thing right along with the rest of us. They went to school dances with girls for dates, they hung out at the same parties, they went to sporting events, and hung out drinking at the same houses and empty fields we all went to to drink. There was never a formal announcement or public adknowledgemnt of their preferances. Again, I grew up in a small town so things were probably different elsewhere, but we had three flaming figs in my high school. I'm talking jazz hands, flamboyant homosexuals. They never announced they were gay (didn't need to, for sure) and no one ever asked or gave them shite about it. Its almost as if not making a big deal about it kept it from being a big deal.
For those reasons, I thought the whole scene addressing this in the latest episode was unnecessary and out of place.

Well it's only necessary because it sets up the inevitable scene where Will and Mike are pinned down in a firefight between the good guys, Vecna, and SkyNet Lady's army, and they use that time to have Will tell Mike how much he loves him for 30 minutes
