I enjoyed it but I agree Owen Wilson is not the right choice for that roll.

Watched episode two.
I'm not sure, are we supposed to hate the mom? I don't really get her character.
She goes to the bank and acts like a 12 year old and seems dumber than a bag of rocks. Saying she wants to invest in helium because she knows the supply is low but then a minute later she's turning it on him because she doesn't have balls and isn't treated fairly. Kind of a dumb scene.
Then ol boy gets locked under the bed cleaning up her dogs piss, which she doesn't care at all that the dog pissed, and she just goes to the bar and sits and starts drinking leaving the dude locked under there.
I'm thinking how much I can't stand this lady but maybe she is just a bitch for comedic reasons. Whatever it is, it isn't working.
So far the story is "Guy gives family 100k and wants to help them and family are assholes in return."

If someone wrote me a 100k check to coach my son in travel ball id probably figure they were loaded and go for more.
Also the jail thing was a pretty legit reason for the mom to be sketchy. I probably wouldn't buy the parking tickets story without written proof from the court

Really? She's just extremely ungrateful, I think that's what annoys me the most. She literally didn't even know her kid was even playing golf anymore and one day later she is asking for 100k. Give me a break.
It's a comedy so it's not like it's needing to be that realistic but that part just isn't believable.
The "go to your happy place" in episode two was another nice nod to Happy Gilmore.

Yeah i dont think this show is what you are looking for. Could tell it wasnt gonna be based on realism at all as soon as the kid lined up and hit his shots off the signs with the yard marker. Scottie Scheffler isnt even pulling that off.

The 100k thing is absolutely ridiculous. Even for a corny show, it doesn’t work at all. If they were trying to make a Ted Lasso equivalent, they failed.

Probably for the same reasons a couple guys in this thread have brought up.
I feel like we have an entire generation of folks these days that would rather search for plot holes in everything to point out to everyone elae how smart they are and they miss the entire point of the show/movie.
Yeah dumbasses, we realize noone would pay 100k for the opportunity to coach a kid and we realize you arent gonna find a kid that is a better iron shooter/driver than prime tiger woods.
Just like we all realize a European soccer team wouldnt hire a guy like Ted Lasso that has never coached soccer in his life and doesnt even know the rules.
You arent seeing something we all missed. You are just pointing out the obvious.
It would be like watching 10 seasons of friends and constantly pointing out how none of them could afford their apartments.
