VaBamaMan, that is a great theory and the most plausible IMO, people just don't engage bc they are like:

ZOMG!@ Luke going Evil would RUIN STAR WARS.

Except, my theory doesn't say that he is evil. He just has learned to use the darkside WITHOUT being corrupted by it

IMO Luke going evil for the ST would ruin what happened to his character in the OT. At the beginning of ROTJ we see a character who, while a JEDI, looks to be walking a fine line between the darkness and the light. In his final duel with Darth Vader, you see a man who looks to be turning toward the Dark Side but draws himself back into the light when he realizes he's walking the same path as his father once did.

"Never. I'll NEVER turn to the Dark Side. You've failed, Your Highness. I am a JEDI like my father before me."

Perhaps that '05 round table Hamill had was heavily influenced by the fact that he played villainous characters via voice acting for the previous 10+ years.

His mental state has been deteriorated and corrupted by the Dark side. And yes, I mentioned it in this thread already

But that completely ruins his arc. This movie should not be about Luke. It should be the original characters passing on the torch to our new characters. Luke should be nothing more than the Obi Wan of this trilogy.

I'm actually hoping they forget all about this crap. It was kinda stupid.

She kind of looks like the Dame Judi Dench in that picture.

Anakin was the prophecy. He all but wiped out the Jedi, he killed the Emperor, and he ended the Sith when he sacrificed himself.

He did bring balance to the force, as he essentially hit the reset button on the whole thing. No more masters, no more orders, there really isnt a good or bad anymore. There is just Luke, and this movie is about the Force Awakening after the end of the Sith and the Jedi.

And Luke may not be "evil", but in the OT, he is a newcomer to the force, he watches his mentor die, and he finds out later than man that killed him is also his father and has done countless evil things. Then he watched his Dad die after sacrificing himself to save Luke. That would certainly frick with some people's heads.

Luke won't be an evil mastermind but he will be pretty fricked in the head. He's also basically the last remaining person trained to understand and use the force.

It wouldnt surprise me at all if he had trained Kylo Ren at some point or at least taught him a thing or two. He might have even told the entire story of Anakin and Vader to Kylo and then Kylo chose the darkside.

you're factually incorrect on a basic knowledge of the OT

I'm pretty damn sure if Luke is evil, he's not Kylo Ren. Ren is going to be the cousin or brother to Rey. Luke might be evil but he's not Ren.

But I'm with the guy above, Luke should and will probably be nothing more than an Obi Wan with a slightly larger role but will eventually die in Episode VIII

Correct.

And i dont think he'll be evil as much as he will be confused and sort of psychotic and a hermit.

This is most likely his role. Proabably a mix of Obi Wan and Yoda. He might have even trained Kylo Ren. And it would make sense if Vader is Kylo's either grandfather or great uncle. And Finn probably spends most of the movie looking for him after he infiltrates the new Empire and learns about Kylo Ren. He'll eventually find him and Luke might mimic Yoda. Give Finn some last minute training and then die. Finn will either be given or he will find Anikan's original saber.

The final battle will be between Kylo, using Vader's damaged Red lightsaber and Finn using Anankins original Blue lightsaber. Someone without Skywalker blood is needed to rebuild the light side of the force.

This. Just give it up. I also want the link to where Kasdan wanted Luke to turn evil. And ultimately, JJ has the final say so, and he's making Luke the new Obi Wan. If Luke goes evil, it's still about the old cast. The old cast is here to guide the new characters. This isn't about Han Luke and Leia anymore. They will be in it, but this is about our new characters.

We should be pumped and be talking about Ren (who is not Luke) Finn, Poe and Rey

What are the chances Kylo is Luke's nephew?

Very high. I think Ren and Rey are twins or siblings. Or at least cousins.

I actually think Rey and Finn will be Jedi and another dark force user will join Kylo Ren at some point to battle Finn.

I think the main fight will be between Rey and Ren

I'd say 85%.

I'm betting that Kylo and Rey are Han's kids.

Or have some relation to Han and Leia.

I doubt Rey would be in her situation if she were Han's kid. I think Rey and Kylo are siblings, but I don't think they're Skywalkers. Finn I think is a distant nephew or cousin of Mace Windu.

I'd be floored if they weren't. There's a Skywalker desendent in this film somewhere.

Maybe Laia had an affair with Lando no one knew about and Finn is her kid.
