Apparently Lucas got to see the film.

quote:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, J.J. Abrams seems to have done Lucas proud. When asked about the matter, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy simply remarked, “he really liked it.” Terse? Definitely. That doesn’t change the fact that this is potentially a surefire sign that The Force Awakens will, at the very least, live up to the spirit of the original saga.

Lucas’ seal of approval on the new Star Wars film is made all the more impressive by the fact that he has not exactly had a glowing relationship with the franchise in recent years. His work on the prequels took an immaculate trilogy and added some installments that were at best enjoyable, and at worst an embarrassment. The director has spoken out regarding the creative differences that caused him to leave the franchise, as well as his disdain for the overall fan outrage that could accompany his involvement with Star Wars going forward.

Well, Lucas liking it is the first thing I've heard that shakes my faith in the movie.

Yes there was a new clip on Disney XD last night. Mostly old footage from previous trailers but 2 new shots of Leia in a blue dress with here hair up and Rey with a new costume.

Can I just say that one of the following things is true:
#1. Harrison Ford is a miserable old sunofabitch. I listened to his podcast interview on the Nerdist, and I've seen a bunch of his TV stuff. He's unapproachable, standoffish, and completely oblivious to the magnitude of the role(s) and franchise(s) he is a part of.

(or)

#2: Harrison Ford is a huge troll that enjoys being an arse so he can see fanboys squirm.

He gets it, he just doesn't understand the fanboyish obsession.

listen to the one with Jon Favreau, they talk about Ford and his appearance on the Nerdist. Favreau says that he is purposely that way and the key to getting him to talk about that kind of stuff is to piss him off. He said that to get him talking he would ask him things like "the ewoks were your idea, right?"

But few observations will be as stinging and as telling as what George Lucas had to say about the movie.

While he didn’t go into specifics, when he was asked about his opinion on the film at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington on Sunday, he replied [via Vulture]:

“I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for.”

This part is him pretty much saying "frick you" to the fans again based on some of his comments about the fans and prequels. Basically saying the movie isn't as smart and/or fans are dumb.

Not crazy about that new TV spot. Finn has a line in it, "Hell no". Have we ever had a reason to believe that a long time ago in a galaxy far far away they were aware of a place known as Hell.

Han tells one of the Hoth guys "Then I'll see you in Hell" in "Empire Strikes Back" after being warned of the danger when he's leaving on his tauntaun to go find Luke. So, it's already happened.

Before Han goes out to find Luke on Hoth, one of the rebels say that his tantan will freeze. Han responds with "Then we'll see you in hell!!"
