Everyone gets all offended if you post something that's not rainbows and butterflies. It's not really condescending as much as like a "hey look I'm not really that mad at it, it's just how it is"

Yeah something told me I'd get some condescension over that comment. But, it only makes sense to me that people who are trained to use the Force, which essentially gives you superpowers, to include effortless physical feats and precognition, would not duel each other by wildly swinging their weapons and beating the sabers together.
This was disappointing, but did not bring the movie down. The story line did that.
I admit though, that my experience with the novels probably hurt my expectations. To me Han and Leia have 3 kids. Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin. Luke has a son named Ben. They just messed up the story for me.
I knew they declared the books non canon, but I really thought they would keep a lot of it.

It's good that some people here read fan fiction.

Not sure if it's been discussed already, but did it bother anyone else how Han pronounced "falcon"? He didn't always say it like that, did he?

Didn't notice but if he said fall-kin, then yes he did say it like that in the OT

Also, the one thing the prequels did, without question, to improve on the OT was the lightsaber fighting. It seems Abrams wants to bring it back to beating the lightsabers together until someone gets a hit.

Ummm, actually I think that is significantly questionable and wrong. They are overly choreographed bullshite dance routines that there's no way in hell they could have done without reheasing for hours on end. I think I counted in the Anakin Obi Wan duel that there were at one point 80 strikes in 30 seconds. No way in hell could they or the audience itself keep up with it.

I like to see recklessness in a duel. I like seeing them miss and swing a bit blindly. It makes it real. The duel in the movie was better and had far more soul than anything in the prequels.

Think about this sentence in your post for a minute. And you might realize why your post is no good.

Yeah other than the duels in Revenge of the Sith, none of the duels in the prequels, while still cool in their own right, had any passion or heart or soul to them like the OT lightsaber duels did.

I couldn't get over the annoying facial expressions on the girls face, that shite was so distracting, it almost made me forget that an untrained Jedi did that shite.

I'm pissed about Solo. No way Han fricking Solo would go out like that. Killed by that annoying little bitch Ben. He should have gone out in a blaze of glory diving the falcon into the heart of the super death star thing.

I can see that. But, the Jedi are not supposed to use passion while fighting. I would contend that Maul was very passionate and fought angrily. Sidious' fight with Windu was pretty intense imo. And don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the duels in the OT. I just think the wild swinging in TFA by Ren was a little disappointing from someone who has years of training from experienced force users.

How cool was it that the old man in the beginning of the film was Father Merrin from The Exorcist!
