I was dissapointed in most of the new themes aside from the final one "jedi steps" which was incredible. he did use some of the old themes well. The Sherzo for X wings was also good. otherwise, pedestrian new stuff. but this movie moved really fast and there weren't a lot of moments for the score to really take the fore front like it did in the OT.

I'm hoping they bring in some new blood in episode 8. I love John Williams but the man is in his 80s

Yeah Poe was pretty badass. I loved that see at Maz's when Finn basically watches him wipe out like 5-6 Tie fighters and a dozen or so ground troops in a minute. Reminds me of some of the people who play Battlefront

Just a couple of random thoughts. I loved the movie by the way. The original music score was a little disappointing but no big complaint. Why didn't J.J. have Captain Phasma fight Finn instead of the random storm trooper? It would have given that character a cool scene that she lacked. Also, I might have imagined this but I swear Luke's robotic hand looked different at the end than the robotic hand that touches R2 in the flashback?

I definitely agree with this. You could completely remove her character from the movie and replace her with generic storm trooper or officer and the movie wouldn't suffer for it. But if she fought Finn, it adds more tension to that relationship and somewhat solidifies her as Finn's nemesis.

A bit of a plot hole that bothered me was when they got her to turn off the shield so easily... and then they leave her. I was thinking, "what's stopping her from turning it back on?"

I thought they threw her in the trash compactor? Or was that just a joke?

Phasma being underutilized was one of my two biggest complaints about the movie. I get the feeling that her role was severely reduced from the first cut of the movie, but I do hope we get more from her in the sequel.

It was a joke. But they did find a way to get her out of the way. Not sure if it was the trash compactor though.

Phasma not having much screen time leads me to believe she'll have more in upcoming movies.

I really think they were just laying track for future installments with her, and hopefully with Poe as well.

The "showrunners" have the luxury of knowing from jump street that they get to tell a 3 act story and can plan for it. George, even if he actually did have a three act arc in mind from the start, couldn't count on getting to tell the rest of the story.

Unrelated, but I'm also not worried about the Death Star trope coming back anytime soon. The way they yada-yada'd the planning of that attack made it pretty clear to me they were giving a knowing nod to the audience that they know it's time-worn too.

Yep, I get that feeling as well. If anyone is familiar with her work on GOT she is incredible in physical fight scenes so it seems like such a wasted opportunity not to have her in that Finn lightsaber scene.

they did cut out stuff with phasma that would have presented her as a more menacing character. I know there was a scene filmed after their assault on the village where she kills one of Finn's buddies for poor performance during the raid. that obviously was cut. wouldn't be surprised to see it show up in deleted scenes on the DVD.

Maybe this will be a scene for VIII or IX...

The Starkiller deal was a bit much, but kind of badass at the same time. What a weapon! But, that's ALL it took to DESTROY it?!?!?! Nevertheless, weren't they only trying to disable it with their plan?

I thought it was cool how they handled. it was very tongue in cheek. they even showed a hologram of the death star next to it and Han says "so what, its just big, how do we blow it up? there is always a way to blow these things up"

I laughed, but I think the comic relief went overboard a little. It was more along the lines of what I'd see from Indiana Jones, not Han Solo.

So I'm sure everyone has caught onto Daniel Craig's cameo by now, but did you guys catch onto who Simon Pegg was playing?

Which led to the whole "you working in sanitation? The universe is counting on you! Hey, I'm just here to get Rey."

That post gave me cancer. Thanks.

The older character's acting was the cancer. You really think the old characters will have a significant acting role? Could they even pull it off? I think that's why we didn't see anything from Hamil, he couldn't pull off being the sage Jedi Master.

Fisher and Ford were terrible. Fisher felt like 2 pack a day lot lizard, not royalty. Ford was barely palpable, I see him as her unemployed alcoholic husband...good that he's gone, they should have just wiped the slate clean.

I get you need to have them for the transition, but do away with the has beens and progress. Could have given them the noble death/closure...and started new.

Yeah, it was like a bunch of millenials were freaking out over the death star and the old vet comes in and says ok, lets blow it up. HUH?
