Episode 8 Prediction:
The First Order gets some payback like in Empire Strikes Back.
Rey loses a hand.
Has to make her own lightsaber because the anakin lightsaber gets lost again.

Ok, I can actually see this happening. I think that is her robotic hand we see touching R2 in the flash back/forward scene because I thought it looked different than Luke's hand at the end.

Nah I think fin is getting a robotic spine to replace the one Ren chared.
Seriously though, I'm thinking Luke has gone full "The Exile" and cut ties with the force out of guilt for losing a student to the dark side.

I was just thinking about the scene where Anakins Lightsaber flew to Rey's hand.
What if that would've been Luke who caught the saber instead of Rey? Then proceed to beat the shite out of Kylo.
I'm pretty sure I would've lost it and gone crazy in the theatre

Rey is Finn's love interest. I thought the movie made it pretty clear.
Too bad Rey is gay.

Read through the whole tread and here is what stands out to me.
First i thought it was a really good movie. But as i was walking out i was a little disappointed. Im going to wait and watch it a few more times before i settle in on my determination.
1. No explanation of the old guy at the beginning, and why he had the location of Luke.
2. Fin was taken as a baby and basically raised as a slave in an army. I though this was explained fine. The conversation between Hux and Phasma discussed that have procedures for solders who fall out of line. There probably arent very many clones anymore so they raise the army from stolen babies and brain wash them.
3. I wasnt a huge fan of Fin. A blaster trained(on first mission BTW), sanitation Storm Trooper can just up and wield a light saber. I think that could have been don better, but this is a nit picky gripe.
4. I loved Poe. I almost think Poe was my favorite new character. He was so good on screen.
5. I loved Rey as well be i did have some gripes on what they did with her. I get some of the people saying they rushed from scene to scene. At the beginning i remember to instances it was almost like that fast forwarded Rey's actions. First when she was loading her speeder, second when she was scrubbing down her parts. I would have liked it better if they kept her slow moving like thy had her in the Star Destroyer. Reminiscent of Luke just working slow on the farm without a care for that work.
I also didnt like how Rey just started to use the force in the final battle without anyone really telling her to "let it flow through you". Han could have had a few sentences of dialogue to her trying to explain how luke did it, when really he didnt know.
6. About Drivers performance. I think he acted very well. I think he went down the shitter when he talked. other than him talking, you could see the struggle he was having between good and evil. Like someone said earlier, this is how Anakin should have been portrayed.
My thoughts are all over the place right now as im reading this thread.

quote:But she could fight before all of this, you saw it as she fought the people trying to steal the droid earlier in the movie. Luke was just a farm boy.
It took luke 3 movies to do some of the moves she was pulling off. Acquired traits don't pass down generations last I checked

Would have been a great way to wrap this thing up in one film and it would have been epic.

He has training though. He's been trained his whole life. Some were better than others. Someone has to clean out the little boys room.

quote:yea trained to shoot a blaster. What i was trying to say is it was believable For Rey to wield the lightsaber cause she was able to fight hand to hand earlier in the movie, whereas Fin was just running around looking for a blaster.
He has training though

The only thing I have to add to this thread is at the end when Rey held out the lightsaber to Luke, I wanted him to take it. Force fly it out of her hand. Then boom...end.
oh, and a couple times I thought Finn was a bit too much...like too excited about things, but then remembering that he's experiencing these things for the first time made me ok with it.

Supposedly Finn also had hand to hand combat training with that weapon the storm trooper used when Finn used Anakins lightsaber for the first time.

The older character's acting was the cancer. You really think the old characters will have a significant acting role? Could they even pull it off? I think that's why we didn't see anything from Hamil, he couldn't pull off being the sage Jedi Master.
Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason, and not that Han Solo is more the focus in the film than Luke is. It's like they're not going to use him at all in the sequels. You're a clear troll.

Exactly what I was going to say. I'm guessing the youngling storm troopers start out learning things without blasters first.

Does anyone know who the old guy is in the very beginning that gave Poe the map to Luke?

And how did Poe get from the crash site all the way to another planet? "I woke up and you were gone". Seems sketchy, like he's a double agent or something more.

Looks like Denis Lawson, the actor who played Wedge Antilles. Maybe Wedge becomes a high ranking senator in the republic.
