You really don't get it.
It's a galaxy, but they have hyper speed.
They can travel across it in less than a day. That's why I was comparing it to the mid west. Think Kansas in the 50s. Low population, but you could get anywhere within 7 - 8 hours of driving, and at watering holes people stop and talk.
Don't be a twit.
Edit: Also, it's been 30 years. It need to be disseminated in a timely fashion for it to make sense in TFA.

Thats still incredibly fast.
Also I get it. We are just doing the "Its fricking Star Wars! Dont look right at it! It makes sense" Method. Thats fine. Im sure you have some well thought out retort to the other problems I brought up.

Thousands of languages. Word of mouth wouldnt work.
Actually it is word of mouth, and it illustrates the value of the droids that can speak all the languages.
There are some logical leaps that have to be made to understand some things in the Star Wars sagas, but this isn't one of them IMO.

The film left more than a few hints that Rey had been previously trained as a Jedi.
Or do you think that Ren's line about an ocean surrounding an island while he was reading her mind was just a throw away line?
Sounds more to me like a dream/premonition/calling she was heading there.
What other hints?

Every day I come to this thread to read the discussion and every day there is someone dissecting the frick out of this movie. Are you really questioning how the legend of the supposed greatest Jedi that ever lived made the rounds through the galaxies?

No im not. I thought the flick was pretty good. Its also a movie thats part of the biggest film saga of all time. Thesis papers will be written about it. People will dress up as minor characters and entire comic book/novels will be written about background noise. People will debate and discuss shite about these movies for years. So you better get use to people "dissecting the frick out of this movie".

I am. And i thought my reasons were clearly stated and have yet to be addressed.
But the funny thing is that i brought up more than one thing and all of yall are just jumping on the minor one. What about the funding/building of the biggest thing to ever be built? How would they do that? How would they even build such a thing? Why would the resistance wait till it was complete?

It was not John Williams' best work. The only standout piece is Rey's Theme though March of the Resistance is pretty good.

A lot of people have spent countless hours studying TFA. Here's some of the hints:
1)Early on they comment about Rey being the best star pilot in the galaxy. (Just like her father and grandfather.)
2)Ren seems to know exactly who they're talking about when he Jedi chokes that guy asking "what girl" repeatedly. That theory is he knows it's "the girl he dropped off on Jakku."
3)Getting Luke and Anakin's lightsaber
4)When she touches the saber she has the flashback of Ren slaughtering the Jedi academy. That would mean she was there.

Maybe because the other points are legitimate?

I addressed them. The galaxy worked on word of mouth. Remember how much the guy offered Rey for BB-8? Why? Because he understood thousands of languages, so he was very valuable.

Just accept it and move on. If they explained everything in the detail you require, they'd just write a book and say "use your imagination for the visuals."
Besides, Ray lives on a planet with crashed emperial battle cruisers and is obviously a trading post for parts. Cant fathom how in the galaxy anyone could possibly learn of Luke and Hahn. Mind blown.

none of these movies stand up to plot/character scrutiny...they are fairy tales written for children to enjoy. i thoroughly enjoyed the new one even though i wasnt really buying the finn character at all, and 70 year old han solo just didnt have the magic that he had in the trilogy...i thought his scenes were a disappointment
overall i'm beyond thrilled that star wars is back, i thought rey was a damn strong new character, and kylo ren was an excellent villain, much better than anakin in the prequels

Communication is instantaneous in Star Wars. There are many examples of people talking in real time from opposite ends of the galaxy: the Emperor and Vader in ESB, Sidious speaking to the Trade Federation in TMP, Yofa to Obi-Wan in AOTC, even Smoke speaks to Ren in real time from light years away.

While I agree it wasnt his best work, I really liked Kylo's theme.
It was simultaneously threatening and subtle, it fit the character perfectly. Even the threatening parts fit his attitude. Excitable, frenzied, somewhat out of control. Whereas Vader's was more commanding, firm, and bombastic, without being out of control.
But you could also feel the call to the light in the song, it even starts to end on an uplifting note, before a crashing horn.
I thought it was perfect. Plus the two medleys that end the movie are perfect. Farewell and the Trip is very well done.
Did anyone else hear hints of Williams' score from Catch Me if You Can, in Rey's Theme? Sounded perfect for her too, loved the way it fit.
I downloaded the whole thing. It isn't as good the OT, but if this is his bad work, he truly is a master.

Because they didn't know much about it until it was complete. It was also one planet among millions, if not more. It could have easily been overlooked during construction.

They didnt know who was building it? That would have been a pretty big clue.

Everyone just got done educating me on the fact that with fast space travel, and instant communication, the galaxy isnt that big in theory. They definitely should have known about it.

This, they built it into a planet so know one knew what was happening. Those trees on the surface were old growth.
Edit: Though they should have done a better job of showing that they chose a planet off of the normal travel/trade routes. The First Order is obviously well known to the galaxy.
Also, did anyone else catch how they made you emotionally feel the destruction of the republic? They simply put a young, attractive woman in the front of the group. Outside of that, no one would have cared. Still really didnt. But every guy in the theater had the instinctive call to protect get tugged, watching her get blown up.

Even with fast travel, you would kind of need an excuse to stop at the planet. Even if you were just flying by, you could be passing on the wrong side and not notice anyone building a weapon. The trench doesn't go all the way around the planet.

They could have done a better job letting you know that was the republic and what was at stake. I didn't really feel much for them.

Possibly. It's certainly interesting theory but also easily explained away.

I missed that one. Who said that?
