I think the Han Solo arc was really well done.

The goal of The Force Awakens was to set up the new trilogy. That’s why there were so many questions.
You don't need to leave THAT many questions unanswered at the end of the first film to a trilogy. You especially don't need that many questions when you don't have the answers to them planned out ahead of time (which is why we got what we did with Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi). The red flags should have gone up shortly after the release of The Force Awakens when JJ Abrams said there was no grand plan to the new trilogy.
The prequel trilogy sure as hell didn't leave that many questions unanswered at the end of The Phantom Menace. The one question that carried over into the following film ("Which one was destroyed: the master or the apprentice?") was one the audience already knew the answer to. Any doubts some unknowing casual fan might have had when Mace Windu asked that question were answered when the camera lingered on Chancellor Palpatine for a couple of seconds.
I respect the ambition Kasdan, Abrams, and Kennedy showed when they were putting together this new trilogy. If you are going to set up so many interesting questions right from the off, however, you should have already thought up the answer to all of those questions with scenarios that would be pleasing to diehard fans of the franchise.
The one thing you SHOULDN'T do is go into the second film with no plan and give total creative control to a writer/director who had absolutely NO creative involvement with the first film.

Younger.
I enjoy what I do. I'm an a-hole, but I have a positive attitude about it.

I liked TFA and I assume JJ would have answered our questions and told a complete story. It’s baffling what happened with the TLJ.

If JJ knew how Rian planned on crapping on his ending, do you think he would have given Luke more of a role in TFA? The pay off negated those two years of wondering what he would say. No one predicted that the scene would be played for lowest common denominator laughs.

Absolutely

I don’t know how that was Johnson’s first thought on seeing that scene and why any of his equals or superiors would approve of the lightsaber throwing scene.

Because they're all garbage.

It’s incredible to me how much damage was done to Star Wars in one movie.
It’s impressive if you think about it
It is going to be taught in business classes for decades on understanding your customer base. They basically burned down a money tree. What’s even more fascinating is they don’t even realize what they did yet. Truly AMAZING!

Your post is funny because out of all the complaints about that movie in this thread not one person has mentioned Rose or Finn.

I don’t really want to sound fanboyish but it is disappointing how everything has played out with the old characters. I just didn’t like it at all.
You didn't like Zombie Leia floating back into a crippled ship? WTF you must really hate women to want them to die so bad.

The biggest (and arguably only) thing the new Star Wars universe had going for it was nostalgia.
To make "destroying the past" and intentionally shitting on the prior characters and films the focal point of the new films sounds like intentional sabotage. It's really mind numbing how someone with authority didn't step in while they flushed their billion dollar franchise down the toilet for no reason.

Sure, we lost Luke, Han and Leia....

Luke got fricked worse than Indiana Jones in that rumored 4th movie.
Nope. Not even close. Luke had just a few horrible moments.
Jones was given the full Irreversible treatment. 2 hours of non-stop sodomy.
