Ghost Protocol was good, not great.
Disagree. Its the very definition of a great action film. Sure the plot isn't that special, but holy shite did they make some great action in that film. It's been a year since I've seen it, and I've only seen it once, but I'll be damned if I can't remember all the action scenes very vividly. He knows that great action requires suspense and a stand alone story in and of itself. People like Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich just don't get this. That action kept you on the edge of your seat throughout it.

The only other was incredibles. I don't see the love fest for him.
And The Iron Giant and Ratatouille were great films. Plus he helped develop the Simpsons in its first 3 seasons. He has an absolute perfect record so far and he absolutely knows what works on screen.

He's only directed 4 full length films most animated and some shows.
Why should that matter when he showed that he can direct Live-Action fine in Ghost Protocol? Peter Jackson had only directed horror films before directing "The Lord of the Rings". He has a perfect record so far, and I don't think he'll frick it up with material as promising as Star Wars, plus the guy who wrote Toy Story 3 doing the screenplay.

God, that image is instantly infuriating.

Just wanna say, I love ultra geeky threads like this.

Toy Story 3 was an amazing animated film but it and Star Wars have precisely dick in common. The old big 3 coming back? Need to throw that script in a fridge and then nuke it, set it on fire, then nuke it again.

We'll agree to disagree. Ratatouille IMO was god aweful and boring and his niche has been animation so far. As far as Peter Jackson reference his only claim to fame is LOTR which he hit a gold mine there. Nothing else he's done is even close. They try to attach his name to other projects, but they have fell short IMO.
There is a lot of animation experience here, but little live action which is a whole different ball game.

But he's proven he can make the leap, with an action film of all genres. Animation to action are probably the two most difficult genres to make the leap from, since it requires a bunch of quick camera movements, large stunt team, and is generally more hectic on set than animators are used. Animators are used to making films over 3 or 4 year periods (even more for some), and if they're a couple of days behind schedule, its not that big of a deal, while in action that's around a million dollar loss for every day they're behind schedule. Drama, comedy, and horror (zombie films being the exception) genres typically don't have much of that at all, but MI4 had like an hour worth of action scenes. That film was shot like a pro who had done action films for years

IF they kill Han off, I'll be personally disappointed. Too much good material in the "expanded universe" to make this cannon so quickly. I'd rather them recast the three of them and do the Luke-goes-dark-trilogy. Just my 2 cents.

Just adapt them like you would a comic book film. Take some inspiration from the material and maybe have parts make it, but it would be an incredibly bad idea to recast them. Lucas back in the early 80s was saying the only ones that would come back for the sequel trilogy would be C-3PO, R2D2, and a brief cameo by Luke Skywalker. This should be it.

Me too. I always found that story fascinating.

Doesn't that have Palpatine as a major character again though? If that's the case, then that is an absolute hell no from me. They need to distance themselves as far away from Palpatine as possible.

King Kong was really good...not LoTR good (and not much is anyway), but damn good IMO.

Han should have been killed in ROTJ and should under no circumstances be brought back to ruin the character even further.
and if he was you probably wouldnt be getting anymore star wars films. Since it is han's and leia's kids who play major roles in the star wars lore.
