That’s kind of a rock and a hard place too

The ghosts are kind of powerless but how do you explain Palplatine being alive in physical form if you go that route

Besides when Yoda directed lightning to burn down that tree?

Remember, China wont allow movies with "ghosts" in them. Which is probably why Yoda was more opaque than past force ghosts in the SW universe.

Unless the decide to not care about Chinese audiences, there will be as little force ghosting as possible.

Persevering physical life has always been something the Sith strived for, its how Vader survived his injuries. Darth Sion is a good legends example of “should be dead but is alive”. In order to kill him they’ll have to sever him from the force completely, just as the Nihilus and Sion did to Traya.

I don’t know if this is still considered canon or not. But I remember that Darth Bane before he died was rumored to have mastered a Force ability called “essence transfer” (or something along those lines) where someone at the moment of death or right after could transfer their essence into a new host body.

Palplatine was always a master manipulator. Him as a force ghost just convincing people to do things might work.

Or maybe he somehow achieved a level of power to actually manage to come back physically.

There's a lot of ways they can do it and have it "work"

I liked it. I am very interested now in this.

Side note - Rian should be castrated and sent to a lonely place.

Rey aka Katara aka Aang isn’t the skywalker. It’s obviously Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren aka Zuko, the direct descendant of Anakin.

Well, there was a story line where the Emperor had clones of himself. IIRC, the clones didn't last long due to the power they contained. Could be they're doing something similar and that is why Snoke was so jacked up. Maybe steal The Force Unleased Starkiller idea...have Rey be a cloned Skywalker. Who knows?
The new books are canon, I believe. If they are, the Empires's End book (last of the Aftermath trilogy) talked about how Palpatine had seninel droids in various locations that could speak in his voice and even had his face projected on them.

The book also talked about how he created these "observatories" on different planets trying to find a path through the Unknown Regions on the edge of the galaxy. He was under the belief that there was an entity out there that was very powerful. I believe the same entity was referenced in the new Thrawn book as well, as Thrawn comes from the Unknown Regions. There was speculation that Snoke could be this entity, and if he wasn't, I wonder if the new parasitic worm character could be.

Well, they showed nothing.

But they hinted that the movie would basically retcon all the shite about 8 people didn't like.

The title, the emperor laugh, "nobody is ever really gone"

They are tacitly promising Skywalker vs. Emperor.

We've went from "let the past die" to "RISE OF SKYWALKER"

It did feel a lot more original trilogy'ish than 8 at least. I'll take that.

They could have possibly pulled it off but they didn't have the balls to step in and fire Rian when he was setting the house on fire in 8.

basically

he legit just imploded this trilogy by deconstructing it

we can talk about the forced diversity, deification of Rey, and bad writing, but the implosion of the entire storyline was something they simply can't fix

Rey and Finn were set up just fine. They only went downhill after that.

-trashed female Captain Phasma as well. Had potential but was trashed.

If we somehow get Jedi Master Luke vs Emperor Palpatine after the abomination that was VIII, give Abrams a lifetime achievement oscar.

Agreed. Back when they were still trying to make star wars like Guardians of the Galaxy and he was the Peter Quill of the show and Rey was Gamora.

Watching the trailer again, in the beginning Luke says "We've passed on all we know." Since Luke never bothered to train Rey in the 8, I'm wondering who is "We?" Luke and Yoda force ghosts team up to train Rey?

Yep. We're all happy with this trailer right now, but I still think this movie will suck.
