Also, Bob Iger says they'll take a break after Ep 9

quote:

Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger said he’s not at all concerned that consumers may be overexposed to the Star Wars brand, but the film franchise will go on “hiatus” after December’s big release.

“We have not announced any specific plans for movies thereafter,” Iger said in a Bloomberg Television interview Thursday. “There are movies in development, but we have not announced them.”

“We will take a pause, some time, and reset,” he said, “because the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. There will be other Stars Wars movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus.”

All of my Star Wars love has just been zapped from me. I really don't care.

As it gets closer to release I'm sure I'll start to get interested again.

They'd have to buy my family's tickets to get me into the theater to see Episode 9. I'm not sure even stellar reviews from audiences could change my mind on that. I don't know that I'll ever be okay with TLJ or the way they responded to fans about how awful it was.

I want to see that Luke was actually force projecting his force projection on that stupid island and he’s actually safely snuggled up on Tattooine.

An announcement that Star Wars- Episode 8- The Last Jedi, has been retconned out of existence and is just a really bad fan film from purple haired SJWs.

This would be the only thing that would get me to care about Epi 9. Episode 8 ruined Star Wars for me.

Interestingly, there's a rumor going around that JJ will retcon Rey's parentage. RJ was asked about it...

quote:

One of the big questions regarding Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was who her parents were. Upon touching Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber at Maz Kanata’s cantina, Rey was bombarded by a flurry of Force visions, one of which showed her being left on Jakku as a child, and her family was never shown. For the next two years, fans wondered about the secrets of Rey’s past, like if she was related to the Skywalker family. Then came Star Wars: The Last Jedi, during which Kylo Ren told Rey to admit what she knew along: that her parents were “nobody,” with Ren saying that they were “filthy junk traders” who sold her for drinking money and were long dead in a pauper’s grave on Jakku.

Well, this plot twist was among the many aspects of Star Wars: The Last Jedi that was met with mixed reactions, and some fans have questioned if J.J. Abrams will retcon this reveal in Star Wars: Episode IX and make Rey’s parents significant people. That remains to be seen, and Rian Johnson has largely remained out of the loop on Episode IX’s development, only having a couple of conversations with Abrams. However, when asked by MTV News if he’d be okay with Abrams retconning the lineage of Rey’s parents in Episode IX, Johnson responded:

Don't care. Just here to see the "men" here whine about how Rian Johnson raped their childhood.

Kathleen Kennedy's name missing from the credits.

Lump me into the group that doesn't care. I realize i'm not their target demographic anymore. 4 decades of fandom from me ended 12/2017. They don't want it, and I don't want to give it to them.

why make us click on the link to see his response?

I want to let go of all my expectations. I want to sit back. I want to be entertained. I want to be surprised. I want to be thrilled. I want [J.J. Abrams] to do stuff I wasn’t expecting him to do and just go along for the ride. For me, that’s why I go to the movies, you know?

oh and Rian, being surprised, and being thrilled, don't go hand in hand. Not all surprises are good surprises.
The billions of dollars that the Fast and the Furious movies have made, and the Marvel movies have made, did so by mostly meeting the audiences expectations. Go make some indie movie if you want to buck that trend, not try it out on a should have been $2B box office movie. You basically cost your company a billion dollars by trying to be cute.

Joke’s on you. My childhood was already raped by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

J.J. Abrams and Ron Howard pop up on the screen and say "Hey Star Wars fans! JJ and Ron here: we know you were expecting a preview of the new Star Wars: Episode IX, but what we could not in good conscience make an Episode IX without undoing the harm to the continuity of the Star Wars brand and story line caused by the initial release of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. For that reason, what you are about to see is not a preview for Episode IX, but rather, a trailer for the new Abrams cut of Episode VIII, which will be released this year instead and will be considered canon for the Episode IX to follow in 2020. Just like Ron Howard recut and re-released Season 4 of Arrested Development as an acknowledgement of poor reception by the series' fans, we know that the fans are just as much a part of this franchise as are we, the movie makers. This version of Episode VIII contains a lot of the same scenes and all of the same characters. While much will look similar, we think you will enjoy the changes to the story that will allow it to tie in to the other movies in the Star Wars franchise more cohesively as well as produce a much more enjoyable movie. So grab some popcorn and start hate-tweeting on social media while you enjoy this exclusive preview of the new Abrams cut of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, as well as a sneak peak at upcoming releases in the Star Wars universe..."

i dont see how the high ups at Disney dont see with with the SW franchise. Rian and Kennedy have bled them of potential income. The hype of TLJ should have broken all records, if the movies was halfway decent.

Star Wars Celebration is This Week. What Are You Hoping To See

I hope Mike at Red Letter Media gets his wish and there is no one there.

Rian Johnson killed Star Wars. The only chance they have to bring it back is to retcon VIII out of existence.

Seeing as the metal hand didn't just fall off and hit the rocks, this would make sense. Because why would his metal hand also become part of the force?

b/c to them some things are more important than money.

I also seriously doubt they are making money on the merchandise they expected to make. Outside of selling some lightsabers, are there any other toys or masks or anything that any kid cares about from these two movies?

I think they fail to realize that they pissed of the parents of the children they are expecting to buy this merchandise. It's hard for the children to want this stuff if their parents don't buy it for them, or worse, doesnt' even bring them to the movies to get into this Star Wars world.
