As I move onto the nitpicks and choices made I’m beginning to get excited for the plinkett review
Speaking of that, where is the Half in the Bag?
The good news is Rian Johnson will most certainly see it and the Plinkett Review:

Also, does anyone ever tell rey Kylo is Han solo’s son. I just assumed in the last movie she didn’t know, she calls him Kylo Ren when she first meets Luke and then at some point she’s calling him “ben”
I'm fairly sure she took the hint when Han tried to save him, and Kylo directly says to her that he was a disappointing father.

That’s what I thought.
Both of these movies are so heavy With exposition it’s annoying
We all get ham solo is the father figure rey didn’t have. It was clear, but Kylo has to explicitly say it because the makers of these blockbusters think we’re all dumb as rocks
Just seemed odd this revelation wasn’t explicitly told to rey.

I can see that Kylo may have wanted to rub salt in the wounds to her.

It wasn’t as bad as leia recapping the movie 2/3 of the way through
But the last Jedi takes that flaw in TFA and juices it up like Barry bonds

Worst movie moment?

Or
Nuking the fridge?

the real underlying problem with this film is that Rogue One is just better
this movie harkens back to the awful prequel films

Never forget the real hero of Endor. Some nameless Awing pilot.
Also don't forget that pilot was black.
But, to be fair, that took destroying the shield generators for him to get through. Which is happening in the gif you included.

They're acting as if this is actually a good thing here, because yeah I agree:

Yeah and the often promoted “let the past die”
Is now the standard of movie marketing irony

Is there a correlation between:
1) Your feelings on the OT
2) Your feelings on the Prequels
3) Your Feeling on TFA
4) Your Feeling on TLJ
I'll start:
1) OT are part of my childhood, and even though ROTJ is flawed, I love them all
2) Dislike them in general, but Sith is ok and I can live with most of it honestly
3) TFA is not perfect, but it's a good popcorn flick and puts a lot of interesting pieces in place to expand the Universe
4) I hate it. Rian Johnson has Snyder'd Star Wars and seems to dislike Star Wars in general.

You know how little of a frick Rian Johnson gave about TFA: C-3POs arm is back to being gold... like doesn't this take place immediately after TFA? It's just this lack of attention to detail that just shows that Rian is being an intentional hack.

And in the 1 hour since TFA ended the opening title tells us the first order has seized control of the galaxy

Yeah, I find that stunningly unlikely. They just took over in like 3 days after a major defeat? Is there just some major non-linear time jumps here? Does Rey's story take place over months and the Resistance's take place in like 2 days with their being a significant gap in time?

Saw it last night finally.
I felt like this was definitive proof of Newton's Third Law of Physics. For every moment that I was in awe and thoroughly entertained, there was a moment that I was like, "Jesus, this is terrible."
I'm not sure how I feel about it overall. Felt like a throw-away summer spectacle movie: "Just give me crazy visuals and slapstick comedy during otherwise dramatic sequences while I stuff overpriced popcorn in my face." I accept that for movies like Transformers or any of the 48,584 superhero movies. I don't think that's why people go see a Star Wars movie, though.
Packed theater. Few goofy moments produced some laughs here and there. There weren't any cheers which really surprised me. There certainly wasn't any standing ovation at the end like someone in this thread said he experienced. It was eerily quiet when the movie ended. I had the distinct impression the audience didn't enjoy it.
I guess my initial reaction is I liked it, but thought it was way down the list of great Star Wars movies.

Don't be putting that kind of responsibility on me.

A shockingly good piece by Vox (a typically Leftist publication) on why people hate this movie. They civilly disagree that many of these are problems in the movie, but they at least see why people loathe this movie and aren’t members of the Alt-Right like other publications are claiming: LINK
