How in the frickety frick does Rey Palpatine touching Lukes light saber trigger any memories? Daddy Palpatine attempted to murder the Skywalker twins and was eventually "killed" by their Papa Vader. How would there even be the slightest memory invoking spark between these 2 families? Ever? The jumping the shark that Jar Jar Abrams is attempting, is on another level from Happy Days.

Palpatine is just showing up all of a sudden in the last movie because they couldn’t even be bothered to create a basic outline for the trilogy.
I’m familiar with deus ex machina where the writers pull something out of their arse to suddenly resolve the story’s conflict, but I can’t think a time where I’ve seen the writers pull something out of their arse in order to create the story’s conflict.

The reactions have been better than I expected. TLJ were either “greatest movie ever” or “Shittiest Star Wars ever.” These have been more mixed but the comments are almost universally mentioning a lot of fan service.
The plot leaks are disappointing but really what the hell were they left with after TLJ? It’s been documented that JJ had a rough outline for the trilogy and met extensively with RJ to make sure he tailored certain scenes to fit the story in TLJ and then Johnson threw it all out the window. So JJ has an impossible task.
If they explain how Palpatine survived and had the time to have a family then I’m ok

Movie doesn't explain how Palpatine is back. Palpatine created Snoke and there are a couple tanks with Snoke clones in them. Nothing else is explained.
