Based on the age of Baby Yoda in the Mandalorian he was born the same year Anakin was born in 41BBY(before the Battle of Yavin IV-First Death Star destroyed). The Mandalorian takes place in 9ABY(After the Battle of Yavin IV).

Before the fanboys come in here and jump on me, in the EU(Legends) in 9ABY in a hidden base built by Emp Palp there was a cloning facility that was creating Jedi Clones.

In regards to baby Yoda I think he may be a clone. Also other things have been posted that allude to this as well. Who knows though.

His species is just a mystery.

It should absolutely remain this way.

There is no reason to delve into where he came from or his relationship to Yoda or his species or any of that. He's already an awesome character. And part of that is the mystery. Leave all of it mysterious. I'm praying to God we don't either have to watch a planet of Yoda's get killed or a flashback to Yoda finding a female Yoda and banging it.

Yoda's species reproduces asexually and abandons its young in an egg form that sometimes takes centuries to hatch and then has to fend for itself. There you go.

I somewhat agree. I don’t need the full backstory, but I would like to know why this child (how did they find him/why was he being guarded) was targeted by the imperials. Give me a quick line or two about what you were planning to do with him and I’m satisfied. I have a general idea, but just give me that sip of knowledge and I’m good.

Here you go.

Several years ago, I thought a young Yoda character (or whatever that race is called) would be interesting as an element of the sequels, which hadn't come out yet.

My idea was a little different, though. I imagined that they were created by older Yodas who so rarely encountered each other, when they did they pretty much had to procreate, kind of like desert creatures. When born, little Yodas were immediately abandoned, but they were so instantly adept at everything, they most often survived. Their extremely high aptitude made them highly valuable as slaves, if you could catch one.

Add to that the reason they live so long is to increase the chances that they will encounter one another.

But I'm sure Kennedy will make them gender fluid pansexuals or something.

We don’t have to watch any of it.

At all.

I loved when Ben got choked up telling Rey she couldn't go back to Leia just as he couldn't. The same when he said Dad.
